Re: Calling all fitbit users

I thought the Fitbit TDEE was too generous, but then most days I seem to overtake the 2087 which it calculated for me. My TDEE on this forum was for light activity, but I think I'm moderate based on the fitbit stats, so I've changed it and the TDEE is now only 100 cals lower on this forum than the fitbit.
I'm finding being in the 5:2 group is yet another incentive to keep up with exercise! Which is good. Fit is the new thin as I read in the Sunday Times yesterday...

if you know your calorie intake and weight loss / gain over a period of time you can back-calculate what your effective TDEE was.

I'm finding it an extra incentive too. I love this forum, my fitbit and our lovely fitbit group too :)

I could do those calculations philt, but I think they would make my head spin. I don't get on very well with numbers at the best of times!

Today dh ordered my a fitbit one! I'm very excited. Not too bothered about the sleep info, but stairs will be interesting as I do go up and down them a lot. I'm also looking forward to the lit up display.

I am passing on my old one to a friend and hopefully she will get as much benefit from it as I have.

I have been out and about today, I even made a conscious decision to park at one set of shops and walk to another set. As I was walking back to the car I tapped my bra, and realised no Fitbit! I had forgotten to take it off my sports bra, so a whole 6 hours of walking not counted. Grrr :frown:

Hooray

It is well know in my house that I am the one with the "finding things gene". My son has sadly not inherited it from me following his father in that respect.

I'm happy to hear that all the Fitbits are back in place. Yesterday We went with our guests to the city (NYC),and I also walked to train station (2 1/4 miles) in the morning so I went over 20000 steps which made me happy  this morning I ran 3 miles and walked 1..,but I have this really annoying pain in the upper part of my pelvic bone ( iliac crest), which I've been having for about a week but worsened a bit today, so I think I have Gluteus medius syndrome that may happen to runners. I think I need to take a little break from running so tomorrow elliptical and walking and hopefully on Wednesday I will be able to run 3 miles with less pain .any other advice from the running experts?

Glad you found your fitbit Debbie - I know what a horrible feeling it is when you lose it! Einatbl, I run every day but have no ideas on your injury. It pay be worth starting another thread about your pelvic problem as there are a lot of runners generally on this forum who might not read the Fitbit thread?

I can relate to the lost and found fitbits, it's an awful feeling until its found again.

Understand why they brought out the wrist band one but I use the display with all the info to keep me motivated throughout the day.

I find bizarrely that doing a lot of cooking helps me up my steps and calorie burn. We had a BBQ for friends on Saturday and I was astonished to find that I had walked almost 15,000 steps and blown through my calorie target by the end of the day, without having done any "real" exercise. I was dead tired by the end of the day but it was nice to see that manifested in the stats.

Going to pop out now for some more steps...

Great going everyone!

Thanks Susan. I managed running 1.5 miles this morning and than some walking and cross training and the pain is not so bad. Tomorrow I will try again 3 miles and will see how it will go.
