I had been doing so well - until yesterday. Spent the morning in the bathroom and the rest of the day on the couch. Step total under 500! Feeling much better today. Will be out and about for a bit today, between thunderstorms. Take care all!

Hi, can I join this tent too please? Running is not for me so I have started to walk briskly instead for exercise - my aim is to do this at least 3 x 30 mins a week to start and then hopefully increase as I get fitter
Great idea! Although I was a bit of confused a first as I read it as meaning 'a walking tent' - some dresses have certainly made me feel like a walking tent in the past - those Laura Ashley smocks were shocking!
Very Confused, Lizzieh! Not that kind of walking tent! Welcome WestLondonChick! Sounds like a plan.
My walking has been going really well since I pitched the tent. Today I am still in Hobart and I went for a long walk from North Hobart to West Hobart over many hills. I thought I'd go 'across country' instead of by the main roads and it was really hilly. Hobart is like that. I avoided the rain which has set in this afternoon and my legs are feeling the extra walking I've done over the last few days. That's good.

Sounds like a wonderful and delightful time spent with your granddaughter @Sallyo and I bet she loved it as well!
Well done with the walking, I love walking around Hobart, it's just so very picturesque.
I didn't walk today, but I hope to try my new fitbit flex tomorrow.
cheers
Maggie

Yay, @Sallyo, was it the Botanic Gardens you walked through the other day? That is such a beautiful place to visit in Hobart. I love the Japanese garden with the deer-scarers, the walled bit and Pete's vege patch.
Happy walking, everyone! Today I am again walking through the streets of Warsaw, with their beautiful boxes of spring flowers, tulips in the park, down the length of Novy Swiat st, and down towards the river to the new University of Warsaw library where our seminar is. The rooftop garden is full of sun today, and the May blossom is blowing around. A total of around 80 mins of walking altogether.

@jools7 fantastic my one and onl time in Warsaw was when it was behind the iron curtain where I brought a beautiful wooden chess set with forbidden American dollars. I was young and foolish then. It was depressing It seemed but such a beautiful place I remember the old buildings and narrow cobbled lane ways. I was in the very old sector.
Enjoy am sure it is a very different place those 38 years ago

No jools, it was Princes Park in Battery Point. My grad daughter calls it the Boat Park. Because there is a playground with a boat: the Pirate Princess. Warsaw would be amazing. You enjoy it!
Thanks for the welcome @Sallyo - well done on your long walk across the hills - that must be great for toning the legs up
Well done jools7 - the scenery sounds beautiful
I'm going to go for a 30 mins or so walk tonight - I'm really trying hard to achieve 12 minute miles but can currently only manage 2 miles and then after that my speed slows down so am hoping I can manage the speed for 30 mins to cover 2.5 miles this evening - will see!
Good luck fellow walkers

I'm happy to report that I've just returned from my walk. I went on a route that takes me out of the village and then back along the side of the river. I'm not sure how many miles that is but it took me just over an hour at a moderate pace. I forgot how nice it is being out in the morning sun with the pretty mountains all around. It was like I was in a snow storm at one point with the weeping willow trees throwing fluff at me from every direction but it made me smile and move a little faster.
Thanks for this thread @Sallyo. I only walked today because yesterday I told you all I would, really didn't feel like it first thing. So here's my pledge for tomorrow, I'll be doing it all again same route same time.
Have a great day everyone and enjoy your walks
Dee

Well done @justdee
Just back from an hour long walk with the dog. Today we headed off to the local dairy farm, which is great for viewing the cows but also rather good at clearing the sinuses! Once through the farm we headed off into the crop fields, which have been freshly sowed, looking at the number of birds that were chowing down. Dog likes to chase them but was hampered by me putting her back on the lead. Through the fields and onto the Common for a wander around the cricket pitch and to lust at the million pound (plus) houses! Mmmm one day when I win the lottery. Then through the village and back home.
Highlight of the walk seeing a green woodpecker in a front garden, amazing colours.
Lowlight of the walk dog rolling in fox poo!

Well done @Minsmum - sounds like a great walk (apart from the fox poo of course!) Wish where I walk was as exciting / picturesque as everyone else's
Thanks for this tent. I have got to get back to walking. I used to walk for about an hour a day but life got in the way. It's looking like some wet weather in Melbourne this week but I'll walk tomorrow for half an hour around the shopping plaza before I meet friends for coffee (and cake?).
You do that @Chook. I just love reading about where everyone is walking. Cows in Hereforshire, London, Warsaw, Hobart, in the 'fells' and so on. I will be driving home to Forth today so there will not be a lot of time for walks. I am going to try to do a walk this morning. I'll walk into the city and meet OH somewhere there with the car. I'm going to try to find a shop which sells fancy kinds of loose tea. I want to find liquorice tea which I have read about on here and which I have heard is good on a fast day. I'll also buy fish to take home. It is so much easier to walk when you have somewhere to go!
