Had a 50 minute walk today, very nice but quite hot as it was a bit later, must try to go earlier in the day before it warms up. Going to go do a bit of gardening, well I say a bit of gardening but it's like a jungle so I should really get my sweat on.

Well done on the walk @justdee and good luck with tackling the jungle gardening
The jungle gardening is on hold, I couldn't get the generator to start and can't do anything without it. Went for a bike ride instead. Dog doesn't know what's going on she's never walked/run so much.
I bet she's loving being out so much
She's loving it. It's funny she goes back to bed after our walks. Lazy dog. I'm finding it's having the opposite effect on me, I'm wide awake, full of energy and getting loads done. I hope I can keep it up.
Bless her !
I try to walk most days i am obsessed with getting my 10,000 steps a day, I use a fitbit which tells me how many I have done and I need to walk about 5 miles a day to get them
I'm going to try to keep doing it because I feel so much better, we'll see on Saturday if it helped any with the weight loss. @mariondot40 I just had a look at a fitbit online thinking I could do with one of them (I imagine it's like the thing they use on the biggest loser), OMG almost £100. I think I'll just stick to my cheap pedometer for now. I'd love one but for some reason I'd feel guilty spending that much on one. Oh well I'll have to do it fitbit-less
No excuses anyone in the UK. Apparently it's National Walking Month! Who knew???
So as well as walk to school week, there's walk to work week ( maybe useful should there be anymore tube strikes!) There's a website with podcasts to download to encourage you on your way.......so let's get walking x

Just got back from a walk, well I say walk but it was more of a climb. Daughter is off school today and has spent to much time in front of a screen for my liking. When I said we're going for a walk she suggested we go up a mountain at the side of the village, instead of going the road way she said she knew of a path (short cut), there was no path just a sort of narrow dirt track that people use. Some of it was walkable but most of it was almost vertical, it was a lot of fun pulling ourselves up holding on to branches and rocks and was nice having the trees for shade. The view of the river, countryside and mountains from up there is beautiful. On the way down we went the road way. Now my energy levels are really high again. I'm amazed at how the walking is effecting my energy and mood, I must keep this up. It took us over an hour from leaving the house to getting back. At least the rest of my body got a workout and not just my legs. Very enjoyable.
Still feeling stiff from my 2 hour walk on Wednesday so I went for a stroll this afternoon and ended up in the pub - diet coke!
Pleased to say that I successfully completed my first fast today - I think the walk took my mind off food!
Well done,@amber, @justdee. I have started to get that energy boost from my walks. And soon I will start to get the sleep effect.
Yesterday it rained all day so I didn't walk but today dawned bright and sparkling and I've been for a walk: down the hill, past the shop, left at the pub and along the east side of the river. Past fields of leeks and past the veggie factory and then back.
I saw black cockatoos, a white face heron, native hens, masked lapwings, blue wrens, ravens and a fantail.
Lovely autumn willow reflections in the river, which was running quite fast after all the rain.
I tried one of those i-phone app pedometers but it measured too many steps. I parked the car outside the community centre and walked in - 300 steps. Come On! It might have been 20, but even that is a generous count. I can see you get what you pay for.

Well done @sallyo, I'm trying to decide weather or not to get a fitbit at the mo. I really want one but they cost so much and I'm worried it would end up in the back of a draw in a few months. We'll see. Enjoys your walks today everyone
Today's walk for me will be a relatively short one its nice and sunny and when I return I'll do an hour in the garden then a relaxing soak in the bath before preparing our evening meal I've bought a couple of ribeye steaks and they may even go on the BBQ not nice enough to eat outside but getting better, off for my walk now bye all.
