I'm chuffed! I've done seven solid days of a 16:8 window, with my window opening at 6 or 7 am and closing at 2 or 3 pm. I know those are odd hours, but I wanted to do something to break my constant nibbling in the evening after my last meal pattern. I was successful in not eating, but I sure noticed that I think of food a lot in the evening. Specially if I'm watching tv for that last hour or two in the evening. So my desire to eat didn't go away but I hope I'm learning that I don't have to cave in to it.

I don't expect I lost last week because most days I ate 3 meals anyway, within my 8 hr. window, and I'm pretty sure I ate up to my TDEE most days. I need a break today so I think I'll have 3 meals at whatever time is convenient and no snacking or nibbling in between. No 'tasting' either!
And tomorrow I think I'll go for a plain ol' 5:2 fast day and see if I can limit myself to a 500 calorie evening meal with no nibbling or snacking afterwards.

I do feel like I'm getting back into a groove-- not quite sure what the groove is yet though.

Hi Dee,
Well I'm finally back with news of a drop and a new groove. I'm working with my night nibbler. My window is 5 to 10, 11, or 12. Whatever works for that day. It's been about a week of working on this and it's working....

Have a great day!
Ahh, this window was open today, so I can finally write to it.
I've been window fasting for the last three weeks or so. I do not eat anything until 15:00. Then I have supper at 18:00.
Do not have anything after that, except water.
I have basically lost the 2 kilos that I put on in July  I am pleased.
I am a bit surprised how much my weight fluctuates though from day to day. On Friday I was 52.1 kg and today I was 52.8 kg. We had something salty last night. It is probably that. I feel very peckish today. Bits of dark chocolate disappear into me, though not my window yet. Very small pieces.... 5 days to go on this window...
I also have easier and harder days on this window fasting... I suppose that is life!
Thank you all for letting me report.
Hi @righton and @Margotsylvia, nice to hear a report from both of you! Righton, I decided to go with the eating window to try and curb my night nibbler too (honestly most of the time it wasn't nibbling, it was continuous eating!), glad to hear it is working for you, too. Do you not open your window until 5 pm? or is that 5 am? :clover: Keep up the good work.

@Margotsylvia, congratulations on losing the 2 kilos! That's great! :like: I notice my weight goes up and down on a daily basis too -- interesting, isn't it. Salty does it but I also notice it with extra carbs. I just use the number from the same day each week to judge my loss, so far it keeps going down.

Dee
Thanks for all the suggestions on veggies, some I have tried and some not. I'm not a very fan of meat except chicken. I cook for the guys and only eat tidbits myself. In fact, I am a fussy eater and only certain dishes make me pig out, you wouldn't believe that when you learn my weight. In fact, i have a hard time myself understanding it. Must be the wine that eats up the kcal
Tonight the guys will get grilled salmon filets, i grill some halumi along with grilled aubergine and maybe some long stemmed broccoli for myself or eat some feta cheese along with homemade potato salad (quite low cal).

Btw, have anyone tried to grill water melon? Found a recipe and will try some slices, it's more savory than sweet....
Hi all, how is everyone doing in this tent?
I'm just back from my three weeks in Sweden. Kept to my eating window throughout (apart from a couple of days when we ate a bit late). I don't think I ate much more in volume but I did eat considerably more carbs than usual (mostly in the form of cocktails, wine and beer). I only put on 2.5lb which after a 3 week holiday is pretty good going  . I reckon it was swimming in the (this year) ice cold Baltic most days that meant I shivered off the excess calories!

Hope you was here long enough to enjoy the Swedish summer that finally has arrived - in August? Am so happy I postponed my vacation till last week.

Have been thinking a lot about eating windows and all them numbers, I kind of want to stick to 5/2 but wonder if it would be beneficiary to have a 8hr eating window on the non fasting days? So many questions...

Hi @wolfie...yes the second two weeks were good weather and we managed to have lunch and fika outside most days and I was able to face getting in the water. The first week was overcast, rainy and cold and the water temperature meant swimming was completely out of the question! Unfortunately, we still seem to be waiting for summer to arrive in the UK so you are lucky in Sweden to get any at all it seems!

Re 16:8 on non-fasting days, I think that a good overnight fast on all days is beneficial but it doesn't necessarily have to be as long as 16 hours if you are also doing 5:2. Would a 12 hour overnight fast fit in with your schedule? A study of young men (so perhaps not generalisable to us middle-aged women) found that simply asking them not to eat between 8pm and 7am resulted in weight loss. There is also some evidence that for people with thyroid issues, eating only during daylight hours is a good idea but probably this applies to everyone as that would be how we evolved to eat as we are not naturally nocturnal.

Oy vey, that would be very small eating windows open for this poor Swede during the dark months of the year

But I very seldom eat much after 8pm or so, some crips and dip on occasion while watching a movie.......but not on fast nights :D
Hi everyone,
Hope your all still around town getting it down......I'm back from an extended visit to family and am ready to recommit to the night eating window. I will attempt to squeeze into the 5 and 10. I am down to an all time low for me. I've been low carbing, but I'm really needing this window too. How are you all doing?
for some reason my signature doesn't show up. Does anyone else have that problem? I'd like my progress to show up.

Signatures don't show on mobile phones but do on larger screens.
