Didn't measure but can tell by my jeans. They are still tight! I know it is still early days and I have to keep going. With three fasts a week it should work!

Good luck @Bobshouse and let's hope those jeans will get baggy soon! :clover:

Hi 4:3'ers. I am on my second week of 4:3, which I embarked on to budge the weight that increased by almost 2 lbs since the end of January. Prior to these last two weeks, I've done 5:2 with a couple of 16/8's thrown in for good measure. Nothing was happening. Crickets. Then I gained almost 2 pounds. I decided I would rather fast another day a week than track or count or limit my non-fast days.

Since April 25, I can excitedly tell you that the scales have started moving again, and I have lost 4.4 lbs!!!!

(On a related note, when do you all weigh yourselves? After an eating day or after a diet/fast day???)

Oh, and P.S. I am going back to 5:2 next week. I just wanted to give my body a wake-up call....let it know I wasn't happy with it! :-)

Well I did 4:3... mostly last year, went below goal weight and then it was maintenance time. Oh dear! Did 5:2 then slipped to no fasting or getting half way thru a fast and got starving and started eating. My weight went up 2 to 3kg but I still felt slim...then last week I got on the scales and I was up 5.5kg on my lowest weight...eek!! Well I thought about it and realised a few things. 1) it's ALL in the mind 2) I need to be losing weight ie have a goal, rather than floundering about in maintenance not knowing where I'm headed and 3) I need to pull my finget out and get back to it. NO MORE EXCUSES. So I decided I would do (almost) Dr Krista Varady's version. I have the book and really like the sound of her maintenance method. So this week back to Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday fasts. Lost 1.7kg in 6 days, yay! But although I have been starving, I just don't care...I tell myself I can eat whatever I bloody-well like tomorrow and I chant 63.8 63.8 (the weight I was last week :-) I plan to get to 59kg (too many people saying you are SOOO skinny when I was under that) and then I will do Varadys maintenance of 3 days (hers is ADF, but I prefer set days) of 1000 cals. Her method is the only scientifically proven fasting for weight loss in humans...so I like that it's been tried (especially the maintenance) on all these people. I am so determined now, I know I'll be back at 59kg by around the end of June

Then in September went on a big holiday, gave it all up and after a few months all the weight came back.i tried to get back into fasting but no luck.so I lurked around here for a while and then three weeks ago I started fast 5.but found it really hard.i have settled into a sort of fast 6 someday fast 7 or even 8 but can't get back into 5/2 .anyway finally after almost three weeks I have lost just over a kilo.nice to see you back.sounds like we have had similar experience
Let's keep in touch.good luck and maybe you will inspire me to,try ADF

Story of my life, work hard and lose the weight, think yay I'm slim, give up diet and put it back on. That is why I have to make this the norm. Whatever works has to be for life and I prefer the freedom of fasting. I will never 'diet' again. When I was at my heaviest my weight was always the same, ever since I started dieting it has gone up and down by a couple of stone constantly. I now do 4:3 and will stay on it until my weight drops then try to find which pattern of fasting keeps it off.

Yes Bobshouse that's me too. I knew it all along as well. Just found 500 cals miserable & people kept saying 'don't lise anymore weight!' So I thought I might have been looking gaunt, so bever found a perfect maintenance program. Now I am hoping that 1000 x 3 days will be satisfying rather than feeling deprived and hungry gorever. I mean 2x 400 cal meals and 2x 100 snacs is pretty easy to do and the inbetween days I can drink wine, cinnamon scrolls, bread, cheese, butter, whatever. Another part of my issue us that b4 fasting, I ate no rice, no pasta, rarely bread, the idd cake, too much wine, healthy vegetarian food and was putting on 1kg a year (I can do that in a week now :-) but with fasting I found I could eat ANYTHING and lose weight if I fasted 3 days, so post goal weight I was eating high cal food 6 or 7 days a week, most weeks I managed 1 fast. Anyway lets see how it goes with a clear maintenance plan in mind.

Hope it works for you, I know how hard maintenence id.

I guess none of us can go back to the way we ate before..... otherwise we'll just get back to the weight we were before too. I think it was one of 'carorees' posts where she said that you have to have been in maintenance for five years before you can really be sure you've cracked it!
I think when I manage to shift a little bit more for my 'wiggle' room I too will try 1000 cals a day for three days a week......seems very doable @GMH.
What concerns me at the moment is the fact that I am going on holiday to France in seven weeks time and I know I shall put weight on.....I want to enjoy myself but not ruin my hard work so far. Maybe it will do me good instead to have a bit of a re-feed.

I live in France! Avoid the Boulangerie! Refuse bread with meals. At this time of year lots of salad about and they favour vinaigrette dressings rather than mayo. Are you self catering or hotel?

@Auriga I'm going to UK (I'm in spain at the mo) in 2 weeks for a week. I always put weight on there. Lots of eating out and foods I've not had for a while. This time instead of saying 'I'll sort it out when I get back', I'm going to do 16:8 every day and hope for the best, maybe you could try that. Others have said it worked very well for them, we'll see what happens :)

I have been to France many , many times and we're mostly self catering in a gite......so should not be too bad! It's the wine and the bread that will get me! I might try to keep to 16:8 it's a good idea @justdee.

Which bit of France are you holidaying in?

We're going to the Perigord near La Bugue, Bobshouse. We've been to the area many times and love the gite company we use (they know us now) as the gites are so good. I am looking forward to swimming every day too in the pool and enjoying our friends company. We usually spend two days driving down there slowly and the same coming back and have booked some really good hotels. It should be fun!
