Re: The ADF Tent

Good luck from me too!

Well, I am in a quandary as. I have completely stalled. If anything I have gone up a bit and it doesn't seem to be working as well as I would like. I have two options as I think I am on a plateau! or having a famine reaction. Whatever it is, it is having the same effect. Dr Varady suggests putting another fast day in to break through the plateau in effect fasting three days in a row. My other option is to refeed.
I have been fasting since August and my body is possibly 'taking a break', without my permission I may add!!
I think I am going to try the three day fast and then re feed when I go home to see if that helps. What do other people think?

I wonder if you're in a famine reaction Deb, especially considering that you've mentioned that you're often not hungry on your feed days. I think that refeeding might reassure your body that it's getting the right nutrients and it may relax back into it all.

Oh Debs, you really seem to be putting your body through such a lot lately! Do you really want to impose a three day fast on it as well? You hardly seem to be eating a thing from you've said so please go easy on yourself....just saying! don't want you fading away before our eyes as you're tiny enough already! Just my gut reaction so tell me to mind my own beeswax, just concerned you're maybe overstressing your system. Big hugs anyway, whatever you decide to do. x

No beeswax here @callyanna, I put it out there precisely for that sort of advice so thank you! Hubby agrees with you!
Thank you all for your continuing advice, all welcome!

Just had a long chat to the dear OH and he agrees with you Callyanna. So I am going to ignore him!! He thinks that I am not eating enough, which is true as I am not hungry and I need to get some 'non healthy' food into me, bread etc  He may be right so I am hitting town today and am going to buy a muffin from Muffin Break and have a couple of cheese and crisp rolls for lunch-yum!! I am then going to attempt a three day fast according to Dr Varady and then refeed when I go home. When. I get back to work for another three week stint, I will continue with ADF and see what that does.
I will stop if I feel it is too much, all I want is to get to a healthy BMI.

my completely unselfish and uninfluenced advice is to do the 3 days... Only cause I wanna know if it works HAHAHAHA

Why thank you Tim!!!!!
I must admit this wasn't the reaction I expected; I really expected to see a result. So I am sitting in flyblown Port Hedland with a muffin and ice coffee!
I am going to do it in the interests of science so stocking up on fizzy water. I'm not doing much at work so I can't do myself too much mischief!!

The trouble is, I am now stuffed and will struggle to eat much else today. I can't win!!

Oh dear @debs you're in the proverbial quandary. I think I'd suggest ignoring your body, forget obsessing about that healthy BMI (for now!) and go back to square one for a week or so.
And so what if you put a couple of pounds back on? It's not the end of the world.
You can start again when you're ready, but try not to stress xx

As I enjoyed my weekend's eating, I'd better fast today, me'thinks!

Oh @Debs I'm really sorry to hear that, because you've been so enthusiastic about ADF and it is blatantly working. Mind you, didn't you liquid fast on fast days? Maybe thats why? Did you have the recommend 500 cals on fast days or go under that? I don't know; I guess its a slow process and we all plateau at times don't we.

I tell you whats interesting: my mum has been sort of half-heartedly joining me on my fast. Whilst my weight goes up and down EACH DAY...hers goes down and will then stay on that lower number, even after a feast day. Most frustrating for me but I wonder if its just another sign that exercise definitely helps. When I say exercise, I really mean movement of any sort. I am currently unable to do very much at all, but I do manage to force my body to walk my dogs, sometimes for 30 mins sometimes 50, but then that will do me in for the rest of the day. My mum walks with me but then she also does housework, cooks meals etc. These tasks, that I used to take for granted, must help in speeding up the metabolism and shedding those extra pounds...mustn't they?

Anyway, Debs, why don't you have a week off? Maybe thats what you need for a boost?

Thank you ladies  . I am going to have a week off when I go home next Monday but before then I shall battle on. I feel a bit guilty that I haven't been exercising as much as I should when you find it such a struggle beanie. I am surprised it started well and stalled so quickly, but hey ho. We only learn through trying these things. Bet you are frustrated beanlet but at least you are doing it together. Grit your teeth and grin :dazed:

Thanks @Debs yes it is EXTREMELY frustrating, but I keep myself going by telling myself if I didn't fast, then I'd be over 13 stone...the worst weight I've ever been just after being diagnosed. So every cloud and all that!

Oh no! Don't feel guilty that you exercise...enjoy it please...and think of me cheering you on with lots of encouragement!

Morning all,
Fasting today, and perhaps for the next two after that. I bought myself three weight watchers calorie counted meals which range between 328 and 360 calories which isn't too bad. I also have a tin of baby carrots to add in. I ate quite a bit yesterday, including a bar of hazlenut milk chocolat lindt, and it was lovely!I only managed one of the rolls that I got, too full. I didn't do myself any favours by eating salted nuts before bed, but bugger it I thought! Turned out to be a bit of mistake as I now have a thirst attack.
Plus I slept really badly, but not beadly enough to nip into the insomniac tent, that way madness lies!!!
So I am both grumpy AND hungry, not to mention bored. I have done my week's philosophy course already, faffed around on here and am just waiting for my Alexander the Great course to come on line.

We shall see how it goes today, well I can get through today and my appetite should have calmed down enough to see me though teh next one. I just keep thinking of my big birthday every time I feel weak.

Beanie, you were lurking in my dream last night - weird!!!

Yesterday was a struggle.

Struggled with hunger.

Struggled with the core workout class that was part of my running programme.

Struggled to get anything done as I got the shiver and felt very lethargic.

I'm hoping it was just tiredness and not eating enough on Sunday evening that made me feel rotten. I really ache this morning :frown:

Bit disappointed to not be as low today as I was on my last feast day, but I know that's churlish when it's not been two weeks ADF yet.

On with the day...
