You are very welcome @sarahg. The more the merrier in here! I certainly have found that ADF helps me and have realised lately that it works as a support blanket in a way. This past week was a struggle so I gave up on fasting a couple of times. This still meant I'd fasted for 2 days a week...so it didn't unduly affect my weight loss. If I stick with 5:2 I think I would just fall back into bad ways. So I really hope this works for you too and you'll lose the few pounds before your hols. Going anywhere nice?

Funny day today; we've all had days when we planned to fast and ended up eating... Well today I planned to fast until this evening then have a nice meal which has been booked for ages. Earlier, I was thinking what a shame I'm going out because actually I feel more like fasting than eating out and drinking alcohol. Very unlike me!

In the event, hubby has been delayed due to a railway incident, the night out has been cancelled and I'm currently enjoying a hot bath before foraging for food after a great fast :victory: I know I've got stuff in so no problems there either

Best of all, tomorrow is Saturday and I dislike Saturday fasts, so it works out great.

Fasting today, will be interesting as yesterday ,my feast day,I wasn't hungry at all and forced myself to,eat as I was afraid I would be hungry today.i am wondering if maybe I don't eat enough between fasts and my body is going into starvation mode
Any thoughts?

Ooh I'm not sure about that Sarsh @sarahg hopefully our I house expert @carorees will be along to explain.

I'm pleased today because I've actually reached 10 stone something (13 to be exact but who's counting?) I'm so happy but I'm not being silly. I'm skipping breakfast so I can enjoy my fish n chip pie without TOO much damage ;)

Good luck with your fast today

Starvation mode is by and large a myth unless you don't eat for several days or get down to very low body fat when a significant slow down in metabolic rate occurs.

Loss of hunger is a good sign and shows you're burning fat. However, periodic overeating does seem to be beneficial with this woe...but I wouldn't do it every non fast day. Same for under eating on non fast days...not every time eh?

Sounds like you're doing fine.

Thanks,it's just that after years of dieting I fear that I have slowed down my metabolism
I am short and middle aged so that doesn't help.i eat much less than most but last night a skinny small friend of mine came for dinner so I watched her eat and noticed she even less than I did
So today,my non fast I plan to just eat but not too much.

The biggest adjustments that make a difference to whether I have a good loss or not are cutting back on bread and alcohol. The same amount of calories but of different foods seems to have an effect.

So, understandably, yesterday's fast didn't work out. We ended up eating KFC in a local park just to get out of the house. Scary stuff - I had one of the new BLT 'quadwrap' meals; the wrap, regular fries, coleslaw and water came to 1065 calories in total  It was still a low calorie day. TBH, none of us felt much like eating anyway.

Today I am fighting the 'comfort eat everything in sight' monster. I had a packet of quavers for breakfast which I have never ever done before. I just suddenly craved something salty and savoury. Followed up with some Bircher muesli that I'd already prepared. I am full, but fighting the urge to put on the toaster or raid the chocolate tub.

Fasting and the discipline of it has actually been good for my mental health recently. With chaos happening around me, taking back control of my food intake has been positive and comforting. I really don't want to lose that. Gaining back weight won't make me happy and I need every scrap of happiness I can muster at the moment. Tomorrow is a HUGE day for DH and could be life changing for us all. I need to keep my grip.
