First week done and can report back that all is good. So much easier than 5:2 ( not that that's hard) but I can handle the eat, don't eat, eat repeat. Not sure that this week is going to be a true ADF week due to various social/work functions, but so be it I'll fast when I can. I don't know if I've lost any weight as my scales are still possessed and I haven't got around to buying new ones yet, however my stomach is looking a lot flatter- this is a good thing, a very good thing :) So I have decided ADF is for me ( apart from when I'm lunching with the girls).

Hang in there Sarah, sometimes it take a while for things to start shifting. I can look at my trendline on true weight and there's a long period recently where the line is virtually flat. Suddenly though, in the last couple of weeks I am seeing downwards movement again. It's my theory that our bodies put the brakes on occasionally as you have to ride it through.

I'm fasting today and just been for a long brisk walk with a friend. Done over 9k steps already! Beautiful day for it

Thanks winsome
Fasting tomorrows .actually quite enjoy the fast days
I am going travelling on Friday for three weeks so not sure how I am going to do this.last time we went travelling ( in sept) was when I gave up on the fasting and regained all the weight I had lost
Will try fast this holiday.even if it's just a few times.

Oh dear, not sure I should show my head in here at the moment. Have bean struggling a bit lately with my ME and as a result haven't bean able to get into the fasting mode. I'm tending to do 16:8 on my so called fast days. I'm hoping it's just because it's my TOTM tomorrow (or should be) and after that I'll be ok.

Just typing this has exhausted me. Be back later

Hi there. I would like to join the ADF tent if I may. Just bought Dr Varaday's book and will have my first fast day Mon 26/5/14. Is it okay to have liquids only on fast days??

FYI Alex - one difficulty members have found with alternate day fasting is that the days are never the same during the week, depending on your work/social schedule that may not be an issue. I do Monday & Thursday but switch days on occasion depending on social engagements, etc..

hi @Alexsid and welcome to ADF. When I'm not in holiday mode (about a week BEFORE my holiday !) I love ADF. I find its a great routine to get into. I've bean having a break from it lately and I just don't feel comfortable. I tend to overeat when I've got too many "feast" days. I feel as though I'm being really naught at the moment...hey ho! I'm sure I'll get back into the swing of things.

I really hope that ADF works for you. Just pop in here with any questions or help you might need. Theres always someone around...somewhere!

Good luck!

Hi @alexsid just wondering how you got on with your fast yesterday. Did all go well?

I've bean off lately so I've just bean doing 16:8 on days when I'm supposed to fast. Trouble is, I forget that I'm supposed to stop eating at 8...doh! Must get into a better routine.

Anyway, I really hope you manage ADF well Alexsid. It certainly works for me. I'm off to Padstow on Friday so fasting will be off limits...although I may very well throw in a few 16:8 days and see how I get on. I want a holiday but I don't want to end up putting all my weight back on. Must be good!

Thank you Bean and Winsome. Sorry for late reply..
3rd fasting day tomorrow and have been cycling and I hate exercise! Fasting feels good and am probably eating too many calories on feast days but also finding I don't want to eat so much. Nothing dramatic noticed on the scales but am PMT. Is there a calorie limit you should stick to on feast days? Also, is it normal to see your weight go up slightly after a fast day? And how much should I lose (roughly) in 1 week?

Hope you have a great holiday Bean (p.s. are you a fellow nurse?)

Alex
