I must admit as a new 5:2er this week, looking for info and basic facts, I found their site curiously repetitive, all roads leading to back to the book. There was a whiff of the 'soft sell' there, and a slickness I didn't like. When I found this site, it was obvious that it had grown organically into a real community, based on the needs of that community, rather than something more self-serving. I will be staying with this site over the next few months - for the information, humour, sheer bolshie-ness and the genuine and immediate support that is offered to everyone. Onward and upward (or downwards, in the case of the weight )

I am actually surprised and sad that they would not want to just join us here. But I will say that I have been on another forum (mark's daily apple-for Primal eating) and while there are many helpful and supportive threads there, its huge success and connection to a book does tend to bring in more than a few mean spirited commenters. So hopefully, by not being connected with the "official" site we can manage to lay just low enough that we don't get any of them.
Yes, no trolls here please! It's so nice and friendly being a mod is no trouble at all! Thanks to everyone for being the lovely people you are!
Well I have stuck my oar in too at the other place, but I expect the comment will be gone soon enough...
It was still there 2minutes ago but T LM's 2nd post wasn't

Yeah, let's do that!!! Puleeeeeez!!!
Oh yes, I'm definitely up for this, just say the word .....
Yes, second post gone as well!!! Be afraid, be very afraid of TML...
Good one, Dominic!!!
Careful folks, don't want to be causing any upset. Whatever we may think of the official site we should remember that many of us wouldn't know about this way of life without Dr M's documentary. I may be disappointed that they removed their community links but I am still grateful to the man who changed my life

Aren't you supposed to be celebrating your wedding anniversary! What are you doing here!
Moogie, I am one of those who had no idea who Dr M was. A friend told me about 5:2 and all I know I learned from this forum.
I think that most of those who are outside the UK have this forum (and you and the rest of the mods) to thank!!! All my kudos go to you and the rest of the wonderful people of this forum!!!

Hi Moogie,
I so agree with everyone here, you've done an absolutely brilliant job bringing this community together and keeping it the lovely, friendly place that it's become. The fact that there are now over six thousand of us, says it all.
If MM and Mimi had any sense, they'd be offering you huge sums of money to go and join them, but I'm very glad you're staying here.

Being very new at 5:2 searched the internet for information from different sources, so found Dr. M' site, Kate Harrisons and this one which provides so much more. I also think it a shame that Dr. M and MM didn't link with this wonderful site but wouldn't like to see problems occurring between the sites, especially for Moogie, and as Moogie quite rightly says without the documentary most of us would probably wouldn't know about 5:2.
Most of us surely when we start out search for every bit of information we can find and then choose what suits us best and as already mentioned there would be a lot of work to duplicate what is here.
Keep up the good work, I am in for the long haul.
I'm guess I'm alone in feeling this way, but I say the more the merrier. You can't blame Dr. Mosley for starting an official website. Most super-successful diets have them, like Atkins and Weight Watchers to name just two. And I really like the official Fastdiet website, although it's slow moving. A lot of tremendous information from Michael and Mimi. I think there's room enough for everyone, and I hope nobody takes offense to this post.
I'll keep hanging around here, far too much fun to leave.
I think this is an excellent forum, so I shall keep looking in here daily for inspiration. However I don't think we need to go trashing the other site - as Moogie said, we have learnt from Dr M - however in life things do work out the way they are meant to and a community like this has good karma - it will be around for a long time and if people stumble upon it after the 'other' one, I am sure they will find this one very helpful. Good luck to everyone who wants to change their lives for the better.
