Claire:Hmm, nothing wrong with that. Um, did you feel very full before the nausea?

No, it just seems to come on about an hour after I've eaten, not sure why! Think my body is just having hard time adjusting, it's enjoying the fast and then objects when I eat! The nausea has passed now, just got a headache! Thanks for asking anyway, hope it's still going well for you!
I can only suggest you try having an even smaller amount. And then perhaps a live yoghurt. There are a couple of docs on the forum, hopefully one of them may be able to help.
Yes I'll try that. I'm going to try something very plain next fast day. Let's face it anything tastes ok after going without all day!
Hi I too am 5'3 hope I qualify - started this just after xmas at my heaviest ever 12st 8llbs. Now down to 11st 8llbs and been 5:2ing for about 2 weeks. I'm hoping to lose continuously until I get out of the 11s and then see how it goes in the 10s. I remember thinking I was overweight when I was in the 9s!!!!
I'm 51 this year and its taken me a year to get my act together as I promised myself I'd start last birthday (March). So just under a month to go to my 51st and hoping to be low 11s or high 10s.
Wish me luck.

Claire: I had a v quick look on the internet, there seem to be several possible causes of nausea after fasting. Most of the articles dealt with fasts of several days so I don't know if any are relevant tho your situation. However the solution to many seems to be to eat slowly. So I wondered if you would like to try having a small snack 20 mins before your meal, keep the meal small and then try a light snack later if you feel ok.
Will do & thank you so much, very kind carogoogle! I'll take your advice and see how I get on having a small snack before eating. ( certainly haven't had any prolonged fasts lasting several days, one day is enough for anyone!) let u know if it works!
Hi everyone,
Just joined this site for moral support and fit into the 5ft 4 ish, being 5ft 3 ish!! I have got my weight down from 67kg and am currently 61.2 or 9st 6lbs but am aiming for 55kg. I have hit a plateau though recently and am considering 4:3 to try and shake things up a bit. I am wondering if people here stick to 2000 cals on non fast days religiously?
Thanks, Deb

Nope, cos I don't count cals on feed days. Have a look at Carorees past posts as she did a run-down of her cals per day showing how they vary in one of them and it was very interesting.
Well I am now !! I am 52 and I used to be 5' 5" but a recent 'MOT' at the doctor's surgery confirmed 5' 4". What a nuisance as this reduces the 'ideal weight' downwards too. Life is just not fair! lol
I am menopausal too and all in all just finding that my weight trend is generally in an up direction. I am currently hovering around 11 st give or take and have been doing 5:2 for around 4 weeks now with not much if any weight loss. I seem to have lost about an inch around my waist though (not sure how that happens) so intend to stick with it, not least for the possible health benefits. I have noticed a lack of hot flushes of late but this may of course be coincidental.
My target weight is around 9st 12/ 10 st so I suspect weight loss is going to be slower than if I had several stones to lose. I do find that I get frustrated with myself cos on my 'eating days' following fasting I don't get round to eating all the treats I promised myself to keep myself going on 'fasting days' as I am just not that hungry - which I suppose is the whole long term point.

Hi, I am new to the 5:2 way of life. I am 5ft 4inc tall and am at the heaviest weight I have ever been of 13St 10lb . This year is a BIG birthday for me and would like it to be a slim 60. I have till November to get there. I only started on 30 Jan and have so far only lost 2 pounds. How can I speed up the weight loss? Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Dharako and welcome to the forum
The average weight loss according to our progress tracker (have you checked it out yet? Links in side panel and top bar) is around 1lb per week so you are on target. The 5:2 regime gives a fairly modest calorie reduction in return for being more sustainable than diets that give rapid weight loss. Although some people are fasting more frequently, they are not getting a massive increase in the speed of weight loss so it depends how easy you find fast days as to whether you will want to take this option.
Unfortunately, being a bit older makes weight loss a bit slower too so 1 lb a week is actually pretty good.
Exercising, particularly, high intensity interval training (HIIT) which helps your body to switch into fat burning mode, may help a little. Going low carb on fast days but perhaps also on feed days may also help but the low carb option involves more commitment and so again may not be sustainable in the long term.
If I were you, I would give it 6 weeks before deciding you need to speed things up.

Thank you Carorees, I have started using the Progress Tracker and it is great. I also use My Fitness Pal which helps me to stay focussed on my calorie consumption. I do Kundalini Yoga twice a week and although not classed as a high intensity form of exercise is very good for toning. I enjoy fast days but worry about doing it for more than two days a week in case I can not sustain it.
I'm 5ft 4, and my target is to be below 11st - I haven't been that low for over 20 years. I've been following different diets since my teens (a good 40 years ago) and put on a few pounds having children, but the big 2st weight gain crept up on me during ten years of a stressful job, which I quit 7 years ago. I lost 1/2st but I haven't managed to maintain any further weight loss since. I seem to be losing weight very gradually, but that's fine because it took ages to put it all on. I'll be able to monitor my progress with the tracker. 5:2 is easy to stick to and I'm feeling really well .
Just saw this thread and appreciate some of you posted a few days ago. Glad to be in your company!
I'm 5-4 (and I used to be a half). I started at 10st and want to get to 9st, I've lost 7lb and am on week 5. We go away (bikini???) at Easter so would love to be able to lose final 7lb by then.
I have to say I've yet to feel my appetite reduce on non-fast days and Sundays seem to be regular blow-outs. Lucky you to feel a smaller appetite!
Good luck.
ps I'm 42 and have one new teenage boy and two girls at primary school so am always surrounded by tempting food.
