Hi Auriga, thanks for doing this. I would like to join please. I would like to reach my target of 9st by Valentines Day. I am a sloooowwww loser and although I have seen 9st 2lb, I weighed in today at 9st 4lb. I know it's not much but hopefully it's achievable. Thanks again
Hi Auriga, I would like to take the challenge. I weighed 135 lbs. this morning and would like to make 129 by Valentine's Day.
Wmr309 wrote: I hope I didn't offend anyone! In the Christmas Club threads there were some really disappointing members, talking about failing, which worried me. Any drop in weight is good so if that means people only reach half their goal they should still be happy and not feel down. I don't like to see people dropping out, particularly newbies as it's a great WOL! Happy New Year everyone!!

i second that.

FAIL , FAILED, FAILING are terms BANNED IN ALL THREADS

unless pertaining to other diet methods as they will often fail!

anyhow.. yes.. stay positive in the Valentines thread at all times
Positivity can be over-rated and high-jacked, and result in some very non-positive outcomes ...

Let's remember on this New Year's Day that we want to encourage people on the Forum to feel that they can share - the lows and negatives in their lives, as well as the more upbeat positives. It's only through the initial sharing that support and sympathy can be offered, and a way through to better feelings, and better times hopefully be found for that person, or indeed for us all. Some of the most powerful comments and threads on here this year have been the 'negative' ones ... And it has taken a great deal of courage for those people to share.

It's very easy to share the positives, but much less so to share problems or negatives. 'Fail' is a very strong term, but it is one that is used in our lives - and I for one am not in favour of banning this - or indeed any other so called 'negative' terms, as I fear this may constrain or restrict people from sharing their true feelings.

Be enthusiastic by all means. But don't let it take over, to the extent that you unwittingly make other people feel excluded, or bad, or wrong, or not-with-the-programme ...

I'll shut up now ...

Well said @Silverdarling
Because Valentine's Day falls on a Friday  (six weeks on Friday), I thought we might like to check in every Friday (starting NEXT week) and say how we're doing. You might want to change your target or just want to celebrate your progress or need support and there would be no need to say what your weight is or how much you've lost unless you want to. If you'd rather not do any of that and just want to post on the 14th of February that's fine too and if you change your mind and don't want to do the challenge anymore I can take you off. I am saying this in the light of some recent comments on the whole forum which suggest that some of us feel very vulnerable right now. YOU are in charge of what YOU want to do, if this challenge helps you that's good, but if it doesn't please don't feel you have to continue if it's too hard.
I like a challenge (I am that sort of person) and wanted to start this to help people because I have had a lot of support on here myself and wanted to give a bit back. The last thing I want from the Valentine Challenge is for people to feel bad about themselves. Please, please don't feel that way.
 Here's hoping you'll all get your New Year Wishes.

With Love, Auri. XX

:?: I'm new to all this 5:2 thing but would like to have a challenge to aim for! Start weight 9st 12llb. Target 9st.
Please let me know if you need me to do anything else.
Many thanks,
Sue
Count me in please, I'm on a family tour till the weekend, so without scales, but i have to say now scared to look. I'll do any fancy computer stuff then as it's just me and my iPad at tthe moment
Count me in too please.
Just before Christmas I was 2lb off my target. Not sure where I am now and won't be getting on the scales till Friday. I have just had 4 days of celebrations for the New Year so can only guess what I have put on!! But........ Once I get back into fasting I know it will all disappear quickly.

On February 14th I aim to be at target weight of 9 stone 12lb.
I will post on Friday and disclose how much I need to lose to reach my goal.

Good luck everyone.

Lesley
Count me in please. I'd like to be in the 140s by then. I'm 158.6 (or so) now.
I'd like to join please - haven't weighed yet since Xmas but would like to lose a stone by Valentine's day - have a wedding end of March to go to and my big 4-0 slap-bang in the middle of the year!
Still think "failure" word and its derivatives is unnecessary. I did an OOps on the thread about christmas blow out and yeah i could have said i failed to meet my never to be seen again 71 something weight but didnt think it was necessary or in any way helpful. Yes i did fail my target but i so hate that word.

we can beat ourselves over the head too much

perhaps im too much of a "half glass full" person.

ill shut up too now before we start a war of words
