Oh No you don't young man.....sun to sun whichever time zone.

If you want to cheat you can have it, but I'm sending my sister in law round from Auckland to sort you out!!!

I think we need a forum vote on this.
Ps I. Only saying this as I've just leap frogged you. Back Atcha.
Haha good going - anyway see you all in a week :-(
I just looked at the leaderboard and Bruce must have very long legs he's done 7,000 less steps than me and has covered a whopping 29 more miles. Having said that at 5ft 3in most people have longer legs than I do
I love this group. Were so nicely competetive.

I do hope you can get a few extra steps in @TBrewerton, shall miss ya otherwise. Bought my hubs a zip for Xmas and he has played golf today getting a massive 17k steps. I'm gutted, but I'm happy he's aware of his activity levels on work days as well now.

@SianS I've often wondered if I need to check my stride! but I'm of the "if it ain't broken don't fix it" brigade.

He does nearly all of his steps running, and I think that running is a much longer stride than walking. He's a fairly normal height for a guy, at 5'10" But yeah, he also jokingly gripes when we go for a walk together, but I get more steps than he got.
@Tracieknits interesting thanks I can see that his very active minutes are waaay up there.

@carieoates I'm with you on the "is it worth it" of checking stride length

I just noticed on the past 7 Days that Anne W is back with us and stepping out
I took my first ever bike ride with FitBit. Hooked it to my shoelaces, and I don't know if it counted the right number of "steps" but I do know that it gave me a lot of them (~7000) and that I now have 89 active minutes for the day. WOW! Way over my previous high of the last couple of weeks since I got this fun toy.

And the bestest part is that we biked to lunch, so not just exercise, but also multigrain pancakes and chicken sausage and an excellent latte.
While it's awesome you're exercising and had a great bike ride, my one concern is that the fitbit thinks you are running, which burns a lot more calories than cycling. So it is going to up your calorie intake allowance as well - and if you are watching your calories, it may cause you to eat more than your TDEE on non-fast days.

You can log cycling in the "activities" portion of the program and it will add it in :-)

Last couple of weeks over half my steps were running. :-)

Thanks, @Tracieknits! I don't count calories (though I "watch" them pretty much instinctively), and I don't really pay attention to the calorie burning estimate on the FitBit site. I'm not worried I'll overeat after the exercise.
However, I do want to be honest with myself, and with the forum "team", so I will start logging cycling in the activities. I'm not sure what sort of estimate to give 1 1/2 hours of biking. Does the program just assume a certain energy output? I don't even really know how fast I go - or rather how slow.
@Wendyjane, either click on the bicyle icon on the activities page or type in cycling or bicycling in the search box, enter the time you started and the length of time (hours:minutes:seconds) and it will calculate the calories burned.

Done! Thanks, @Betsysgr8. It still shows 14 very active minutes, which is probably not true. But we stopped at the store on the way home, so if I want to do this thing really right, I should have kept track of my bike starting and stopping times. If that makes any sense... Anyhow, I did feel very active while biking, whether my fitbit thought so or not
Go Me, GoLinda...I did half marathon today...all on my own. Was still bummed how I was iced/snowed out of the one in December. Today was suppose to be decent so I thought I would give it a shot. Loaded up the dogs and headed to the lake. Had a plan to call husband when we hit about 8 miles. They seemed to be doing okay so they walked the whole 13.4 miles with me. Oh yeah, 24,000 steps and 174 active minutes. Felt great to be able to do it since the weather has made it so impossible to get any early morning walks in.

Not going to lie, when I go home, I headed right for a long soaking bath. The dogs are sleeping soundly and moving a little slower than normal. Hope I'm not miserable tomorrow, but will still be worth it.
well done on the half marathon Golinda. That is an amazing achievement. You deserve a very relaxing day today.

It was a hiit day For me today so probably less steps and tomorrow I will be on a plane most d the day.

Have a good day everyone :)
Congrats on your half marathon Linda! I hope your feet are OK.
I didn't run with the club this weekend as I was away, so went for a run on my own and did my longest so far, 18kms, in 1 hour 40 mins (very easy pace for me).
No problems at all so am confident of doing a full half marathon in April at hopefully under 1 hour 40 mins when I up the pace.
No running today, just walking and skipping (which is hard work!)
