Awesome, @cblasz. You're going to love it.

Had a lovely bright fresh start to week 5 today. I think that was my 1st run that was not in pitch black and torrents of icey rain! I am listening to Robert Ullrey's Californian Voice telling me to make sure I cool down after each run...hahaha! I run in hat and gloves! @Cblasz, dont let the weather deter you. There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing!

Go, go @cblasz and @scubachick!
I cheer for you to keep it up, even if the weather is bad. I can't tell you enough how good you will feel when you cross that 5K line.

Thanks @RunningOlsen! I did complete the programme a couple of years ago. I signed up for my 1st 10k run and completed it while pregnant with my third baby. I have taken my time getting myself back as he is now 18mths old.

I really am going from the couch to running 5k all over again! An enormous sense of personal achievement though. I couldnt imagine running across the street before I started. I now have my sights set on another 10k fun run at the start of May. I don't think I will run the entire 10k, but I will give it a good go! Once I finish and I'm not last.

I'm sitting on the fence watching you all jog past me at the moment. My treadmill is out of action at the moment. And I'm scared to run outside firstly because I don't do cold air in my lungs and secondly because I'm also a bit shy about the villagers seeing my blob on past.
I will get there I was on week 4, and week 5 before my hysterectomy in December.
Great to see some new and enthusiastic runners. :victory:

Just a quick question, I completed the C25K last year and run 5k 5/6 times a week. Am looking at a 10k run and wondered which was the best way to increase the distance. Any advice gratefully received! :geek:

The most common recommendation is to increase weekly distance no more than 10% of the previous week.

This is one of those cases where you're to "listen to your body". In practical terms, if at any point you find that recovery isn't as before (a day or two is typical), then rest for another day before considering the next run.

@carieoates I feel the same! One of the reasons I'm out the door by 6.30am! I feel like I'm not a proper runner, just playing dressing up!

@Chickvic, there are c25k follow-on programmes and apps. Search for "5k to 10k". I joined a running group which helped me to build up speed and distance. Before I knew it I was chatting while running and that makes the distance fly by. ( Hmmm, I wonder if that group is still on the go. I must rejoin.)

I finished Week 1! It is such a feeling of accomplishment. Can't wait to start week 2 on Sunday!

I have just finished my very first run. I went to the local park. I feel tired but good. One question best snack to have after finishing a run that won't make me hungry later ( I'm on a fast day today).

I'm starting week 4 tonight. I feel like the jogging for 5 mins is going to be quite a step up. Quite nervous!

@Brand-ie - I don't normally have a snack afterwards. I either go before or after breakfast or right before dinner. But, you could probably have a yogurt or protein bar or something. I thought it would be hard going on a fast day so close to dinner (after fasting since breakfast) but it was fine!

@gym-sparkle-90 - The 5 minutes is daunting, but you just have to trust the program. Even if you can't do the whole thing the first day, it should get easier by the end of the week. I'm only on week 2. Let us know how it goes!

I did it before I had breakfast yesterday and found that easier. Drank a whole load of water before and after. I feel better today than I did on Tuesday though still a bit stiff.

@cblasz I ended up doing a body combat class instead which was difficult after not doing so many classes recently. I've just been doing my own thing in the gym along with C25K but it's safe to say I'm feeling the effects of the class today!

So I will be carrying on with c25k tonight after work, I shall let you know how Week 4 Day 1 goes :like:
