@Azureblue - thank you - LOVE it!
I've really let the walking down because:
Lost my fun walking buddy to Qatar in the summer :cry:
Been SO busy with work and voluntary work, taken over my life - NOT GOOD! :dazed: :bugeyes: :dazed: time to seriously reign it in for me time.
@Ieramul - welcome and thanks - you are inspiring me to get out at lunchtime and take a proper break. I need to be more disciplined - I WILL :wink:
@Stowergate very sorry to hear you lost your dog, do you plan to get another? They are great walking companions as they heel! I am minded to follow @Candicemarie and adopt a dog to walk as I have granddad Charlie Cat instead.
@Tammae there are such interesting spaces to walk. I'm trying to imagine your seminary walk - in London we have some amazing old cemeteries that are beautifully breath taking............
Here are a few - if you fancy a virtual walk :grin:

Dinner is calling..... to be created! I'll pop back later and share my committed weekend walk, still Friday evening here.

Hi walkers, it's been such a long time since I've been in this tent. I've moved to a place with cycle paths everywhere so it's bike riding all the way for me now. Weekdays I ride about 12miles a day, taking DD to school and back and going anywhere else I need to too. I'm really loving it and the weight is coming off even though I'm not really fasting properly at the moment. I have been thinking about riding to the beach and going for a long walk there as I could go for miles, I'll let you know if it happens. Happy walking all and thank you @Sallyo, you got me moving when I needed it most :)

Thank you for the welcome @Lizbean. It is definitely worth making myself go for a walk in my lunch break. Sometimes when the weather is particularly bad and I don't manage to go for a few days, I realize how quickly I could give in to my lazy gene and stay and not bother. But once I am outside, I love it.
A few years ago I only lived about just over 12 minutes walk away from work and I did all my walking by walking to work, then home for lunch - then back to work and home again. Once I moved and took the car to work, I knew I had to do something about exercise, because I just can't bring myself to go to the gym after work in the evening.
@Justdee, I envy you, I love cycling, but it is just too dangerous where I live - narrow lanes, lots of traffic and busy roads. 12km per day that must just melt the pounds off you.

Hello everyone. I just can't get myself motivated to walk at the moment. Everything else seems more important and there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day. I really related to that 'tomorrow' bit. This morning I woke up at 7am and my thought was, get up and go for a walk' but did I? No I turned over and went back to sleep. I don't know what to do. It's great to read other people's walks. I can't wait to walk in London! I think I'm bored with all the walks around here. But that's rubbish, because it's always changing with the seasons. Keep walking everyone, keep posting. It helps.

Wow, @Sallyo - not only have you described yourself but me as well!! I have not been motivated to walk anywhere these last few months, and when I last did, it was boring! These suburban streets now hold no interest to me whatsoever.
I have driven to a walking track, then walked and that is still too much effort!!

How exciting that you will going to London, when is that?
I have been on my stationary bike once in the last few months, I must get back on daily again.
Enjoy the day everybody
take care,
cheers
Maggie :smile:

@Maggiee, we should make a pact: set a day and a time and go out together, virtually, you in Melbourne suburban streets and me in rural Tas. That might get us moving as we'd feel obliged to someone outside ourselves. I have no date for my trip to London. I just know that I will go there one day and I love Lizz's London walks and I want to do them! A friend of mine is engaged to an English girl and he is going to England to live and will probably get married in England so I told him I'd come to the wedding! He is going to be living in Brighton, I think. I want to go to Lewes where my Quaker ancestors came from, which is near there.

Ok folks, my first I WILL walk this weekend is to the bank to collect the bank card I lost and someone kindly handed in! Then on to the vets to pick up cat food and order meds. That's 2.5miles round trip. I have texted my friend and we are planning a walk tomorrow - with her border terrier - details of where to be agreed. @Sallyo yes, come to London ...... I'll feed you more virtual walks to wet your appetite further. An acquaintance of mine who is a lecturer is retiring this year and has been setting herself up as an independent tour guide...... how cool is that. Like Jonnie did - http://www.bowlofchalk.net/ I went on this walk last year .......

Came back and broke the fast with a stirfry, there's a curry for dinner tonight :0)
Shame about the rain coming on at the end but at least I was out in the bright fresh air for an hour.

@Azureblue go you ...... I'm back too and feeling much the better for it - autumnal, grey skies and mild for this time of year at 20 degrees .......... right time to unpack the shopping. Roast chicken this evening with all the trimmings, yum.

Well done @Lizbean, onwards, ever onwards m'dear!
Ironing completed, need to put it all away and vacuum round next, instead of sitting here grazing pistachios and spilling Time wastefully.
Wonder if OH will mind the noise, being as its Football Day on the radio :0.

I bought myself a new pair of trainers for walking in on Wednesday. I visited a nearby town where there is an outlet centre and one of the shops is Nike. The retail price should have been £80 but because they were an outlet this was down to £60 and then some of their trainers had 30% off. When I got to the till the cashier said that they were further reduced to £52 but still with the 30% off, so I ended up paying just less than £37 for them! :shock:
They are very comfortable and I have already walked seven and a half miles in them, using them only when we are walking on our local roads. When it is wet or muddy or we are going 'off-road' I have a pair of waterproof walking boots which are also very comfortable, so there is no excuse for me not to walk - other than being a very idle person! It's a good job that I have a husband who is great at encouraging me to accompany him on a walk! My fibit flex and my Nike app (free to download) are also great bits of technology to encourage me to get out there!
Thank you, @Lizbeanfor your comment about Susie, our dog, She was a great companion but just before she died she was finding long walks difficult and hated to be left behind. We are in no rush to get another dog because she was perfect for us and it would be hard to find another dog which would suit us so well. We do miss her though! :frown:

@Stowergate well done for getting kitted out and at a bargain price. It is a lovely sunny autumnal day here and we are off to Epping Forest for a walk after lunch http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epping_Forest - looking forward to kicking the leaves on the ground and smelling the forest ...

@StowgateResident that is sad, a good dog is hard to find let alone replace {{{+}}}
@Lizbean I envy you Epping Forest for a walk, how lovely. Are there deer there still?
My urban walk today was thick with fallen leaves, the strong wind is tugging them away in bucket loads today, branches clattering down too. There's a dying hurricane heading our way tomorrow that may well empty the trees this week :0@

I did it, the last 2 days I cycled to the beach with DD and we walked along the sea for about an hour and then back. We really loved it. I think this is my favorite time of year, not too hot and the beaches aren't packed. Been thinking I might leave my bike near the school one day this week and walk home along the beach and then back again later to meet DD. And there's me thinking my walking days were over :) I just forgot how much I love walking. We see so much more when we're not speeding past everything.
