@Azureblue yes the deer sanctuary is still there but we did not pass by it today. Have you visited? It was a glorious afternoon and we plan to go back for another walk soon. @justdee that sounds like mighty fine cycling country and beach walks too. No walking next weekend, off up north for big family birthday weekend and that means lunch out, cake and champagne.

Liz... thank you for the London site.... the artist in me loves the sculptures.
My walking has been on a strike this week as I have traveled and been very busy working with my husband on his truck routes. I noticed my hips and thighs are a bit sore from climbing in and out of the truck so many times. It it so steep and a high climb I have to use my arms to pull up into the cab so I guess I will count that as my exercise too. Today I will get a walk in too. I love listening to my music and walking in the sunshine during this fall weather.

I've been to Pilates this morning and have a meeting this evening, after cooking dinner for my husband, son and me, so may well not fit in a walk today. I didn't go out yesterday, either, so am feeling a little guilty. Maybe if I stopped browsing the forum, I would have time for a brief walk - which would be better than nothing!

Hey! I went for a walk today! I had lots of errands to do in Devonport, taking around a poster to advertise a Greens fund raising Spring Picnic at the Arboretum. And I had to go to the Library where there is an exhibition of work from various Devonport primary schools, including ours, and primary schools in Minamata which is our Sister City. I am taking classes tomorrow to see the exhibition so I had to make up an activity to keep everyone on their toes. So I walked from Help Yourself Whole Foods to the Library, then to Picture This, and then to various cafes: the Laneway and S'il Vous Plait, and then to the fruit shop and back through 4 Ways distributing the Green Poster. I was very gratified when people admired the poster because I had made it. 'Who did the artwork?' 'well. me, actually' !!! 'Pretty poster' ! I was chuffed. It was a pretty good walk, took over half an hour. Maybe I'll manage one tomorrow too. The weather is gorgeous and there is NO EXCUSE for not walking!

Thought I'd join you all in the walking tent :like:

I have 2 dogs so I have to walk rain or shine! We go out 3 times a day and my aim is for us to walk 5 miles a day which we have been managing so far. At the weekend we tend to go that bit further and there have been some days where I've overdone it and my legs have been aching like mad. I get my iPod on and stride out. There's no doubt it's helping my weight loss.

Hi fellow walkers, haven't been in the tent for a while but I've still been walking the dog everyday. Today like every other we set off, I had waited for the rain to stop, raincoat and wellies on for a slightly longer field walk today, needed to stretch my legs out after a hard workout session yesterday. All was going well until we get into the middle of a field and I thinks to myself, mmm that wind is picking up and then the heavens opened with that horizontal rain that gives you half a trouser leg wet half a trouser leg dry look!. Not put of by this we soldiered on, luckily it was a short downpour. Next field, the rain hit, and I mean hit, it was cold, hard and very very wet, even the cows looked at me and dog as if we were mad as they ran for cover!
Managed to find some cover, but dog, who is mad at the best of times decides a mud bath is in order. Not only is she wet she's now brown and gloopy. Oh good grief!
Rain eased up so off we troop bumping into the Rural Estates Manager in his Landrover. He winds his window down shouts" you're a brave soul" and drives of through a big puddle... Gee thanks.
By now the wind is howling, the rain is like sheets coming down, dog looks like she's done one of those Tough Mudder races and I've lost my sense of humour! Managed to get back to the woods without too much happening when yep a tree comes down just by us......run!!!
We are now home, the wind and the rain have passed, the sky is blue with fluffy white clouds, my jeans are in the wash, the dog is going to get bathed and I'm cold and HANGRY because I'm fasting and cold and have blue legs because the dye came out of my jeans!!!

Blimey @Minsmum you are braver than me! Lots of hot drinks and warm fleecy clothes for you and a sweet smelling bath for woof woof :0)

I've not been brave, not ventured out, watched from inside the house the dying hurricane tug and rip around the garden. I'm about to break fast with eggs and hope it's eased off after that so I can get out safely :0.
Take care everyone, it's mean out there!

Sallyo... You took that step and went for a walk... and a quality one at that. I am much like you and have to MAKE myself go for the walk. Sometimes I come up with errands to combine with the walk but it seems it gets easier when I do it more. If I skip...or miss out for a few days I have to get that motivation back that I had before.

Yesterday I was a bit down and forced myself to walk. Didn't have a lot of energy but I know it was the best thing for me at the time. Helped me stick with yesterday's fast too.

Wow! You Brits sure have stamina! I did a lot of walking today. First, I parked the car away and walked to work, then I walked from school to the library 7 times, and back up the hill. I had to accompany each of my classes to the library to view the Sister Cities exhibition. My feet are sore and I think I should put in a claim for new shoes from the Education Department. It's only about a block, but it was up hill and 7 times. Then at the end of the day, I had to walk back to the car! Jeepers!

Wow @Sallyo that was hard work but good up and down exercise. Gold star m'dear :0)
Just back from my (now) usual urban circuit, many branches down, I wonder who will tidy that lot up?
This walk takes me East up to our nearest park, through it and down the road opposite, at the end I turn left to face North and along passed another park and houses to the end, then left to face west and up hill and down to its end, then left again onto my home road and up hill again. I've measured it on a map tool, it's 1.6 miles. Takes me half an hour and really warms me up :0)
Weight 72.2kgs today but at least it's dropped 200g since yesterday :0)
I'm still 16:8-ing, there's a crock pot simmering for dinner tonight after two grandsons have gone home :0)
It's all good :0D

Ugh... tried to walk on the track yesterday... only made it one lap and had to come home and ice my back. Getting old and falling apart. Taking it easy today and hopefully next weeks chiropractic appointment will help me improve. I am missing some beautiful weather for walking.

{{{+}}} hugs @Tammae, hope you are better soonest m'dear.

Did the walk this morning, nice to see lots of workers using the parks on their off day today, lots of kids footballing too.

Clocks have gone back an hour this morning so the day feels strange, skewwiff and long. Our cat has decided it's best to eat all day just to make sure nothing is missed!

Take care in the dark and wear something white at night :0)

Wonderful News! Last night I lost a knitting needle. In searching for it in my armchair I noticed a cord and clip dangling from the bottom left hand corner, at the back of the chair. I pulled on it and what should fall out but my lost pedometer! HELLO! O Fabrous Day, Calloo, Callay! I walked to work this morning and so far I have done: wait for it: .....10,548 steps, or 7.8 km, 268 Calories, and I don't know what 15.5 grams means. The little figure is cheering and clapping. It is so much more fun to walk when you can measure it! Also I had purchased a Larousse Gastronomique from the school book club which weighed a ton, and I carried it back to the car in my backpack. That must be worth something
I still haven't found the knitting needle. Now I need to loose something else and I will fns the knitting needle. Shouldn't take long.

Yey @Sallyo go you. Phew! @Tammae my chiro put me back together earlier this year so don't lose faith yet. I found it a gentle process, don't expect too much too soon.

Right, I'm bumping this up ........... where are you all walking this weekend? x
