Re: Walking tent

Hi all, well yesterday's walk with dog was lovely, can't beat a Bank Holiday walk in the sun. Set off across the fields, through the farms, lots of birds sunning themselves in the hedgerow. Even spotted a roe deer, was a bit of a stand off at one point when she spotted me and dog. So we waited until she took off. Wandered into the woods, nice to see the bluebells are still out in force. Then we walked and walked and walked. Ended up doing about 7 miles, but it sure cleared the cobwebs away. Now for today's walk, dog is sitting by the door looking at me as if to say, will you put that iPad down and come on!

Hi everyone  - just catching up on posts as back from weekend away (they always seem to go soooo quickly)

Well done on all the walks :victory: :victory: ! And fantastic pic @Minumonline  :like:

Walked loads whilst we were away - the Cotswolds were beautiful. The hotel we stayed at had a waterway running through (the hotel was actually a converted mill) with lots of outdoor seating so after we came back from our walks, it was time to relax with a chilled glass of wine and watch all the little ducklings learning from the mummy and daddy ducks - they were very cute  .

Am going to MIL's for dinner tonight but am taking myself something I've prepapred as it is fast day and I want to stay within my 500 cals  . Am going to fit in a 30 minute walk tonight before I go to hers.

Hope you all have a wonderful day

Can I join please ? I like walking and live in the countryside but once spring comes and the livestock re appears in the fields it's difficult with 2 dogs on my own during the day, and I couldn't go for a walk without them ! ( 1 is a bit poorly and the other full of beans! ). We have no pavement or verge so it's no good walking down the road, unless you want to get run over. And we have to drive if we want to get something as we have no shop. Once a week I try to go to the coast and at the weekend I drag the family out too. I've just got myself a pedometer and can see that although I do over 10000 steps I'm not very active for long. Now I'm going to try speed walking round the garden, one dog will probably look at me like I'm mad and the other will probably follow with her ball for me to throw. I'll be back !

Welcome to the tent @mrstee. I'm glad you raised the issue of the problems with walking in the country. I experience this. If you want to go anywhere, you have to take the car. There aren't any footpaths so you have to walk on the verge of the road. Luckily I live in a reasonably quiet part of the world so I walk on the verge of the road and face the on coming traffic. There are a few roads where there is hardly any traffic, but on at least 2 of the roads I walk, there is traffic, travelling fast.

I did my walk today, to and from work, parking my car some distance away. I picked up autumn leaves and it was a good thing I did as the groundsman at work had tidily swept up all the lovely autumn leaves under the trees at the school oval and to take the children out of the school would have required letters sent home and parents' signatures. I couldn't even take them across the road to the virginia creeper wall.

Any way the long and the short of it is, i did a walk!

Gosh, autumn leaves, I love walking in the woods in autumn and feeling them crunch underfoot. Spring is going great guns here and the swallows have returned to nest in the shed - we take the window out for them and they thank us by pooping on the washing ! Why do they always get the big duvet cover ?! Anyway I think I got away with 30 mins speed walking at home without being spotted by anyone. Today it's dry and very windy, about 14 degrees c. Last night was very wet so I wore my wellies. Not a good choice and I'd sort of forgotten that we live on a hill so had very rosy cheeks by the end of it. I don't know why I didn't think of doing it before, I always get distracted by jobs that need doing outside. I was right about the dogs .... One sat and watched the madness and the other chased me around. I think I'll try to do it every day, it's only half an hour isn't it ? I find it helps to share on the forum, it gives me a bit more get up and go ! Feel free to nag me ... I'll need it when the weather's horrid. Happy walking everyone.

I did walk today @sallyo :)I went out first thing for an hour. It was quite cloudy this morning, nice and cool for walking. It's brightened up out there now so I'm pleased I went early. Seems a lot of us walkers live in the countryside. Half my walk takes me along the 'main' road, I walk on the road (only 3 cars went past me today so quite safe) the dog has to stay on her lead for the first half, the other half of the walk brings me back along the river side (where the dog can run free and jump around like a puppy). Today I spotted an eagle, I was waiting for him to swoop but he didn't, maybe next time. I realized I hadn't seen any birds of pray for a few years then I realized it's because I haven't been out walking.
I saw a friend of mine yesterday and told her I've started walking and would walk up to her house one day this week. She lives on top of the mountain my daughter and I scrambled up at the weekend, I'll go the road way this time, that must be a good few miles up hill and then back down again, I'll ask her how far it is from the village when I get there. I think I'll go tomorrow morning.
We have swallows too @mrstee They are trying to build their mud nest outside my daughters bedroom window and I have to keep knocking it down before they get it big enough to move in. I know it sounds quite heartless to destroy there nest but I have to do it. When we first moved in I thought it was very sweet and let them build away, I didn't realize how much poo they push out of the nest from the baby birds. I was cleaning up after them every day, as the baby birds got bigger the poo got more and more, it got so bad my DD couldn't have her window open in summer. They'll move on in a few days an build somewhere else.
We're all doing so well with our walks, aren't we? Thanks again for this tent sally I really wouldn't have started going walking yet if I didn't have you lot to check in with. Same for me mrstee, if I've not checked in with you all for bit please nag me, it'll keep me on track :) Enjoy your walks everyone :)

The name of this tent always makes be think of Baba Yaga's hut (the hut on chickens legs that walks around)!

Lovely walk on Anglesey over the weekend. We had the place to ourselves, except for a few cyclists.

I've gone from being up but not dressed and indoor pottering to up and out by 8.50 this morning, walked then shopped a bit for lifting heavy things weight resistance on the way back. Only a couple of miles in 50 minutes but very refreshing. A good start to the days' steps if only a couple of thousand, yesterday I seemed busy but trapped in a car for far too long so only 2.5k steps all day :0(
Must do better, and today we have grandsons so they always have me on the go!
Onwards, dear friends, onwards :0)

Thanks to the walking tent I have done some more speed walking round the garden, I thought I'd better or I'd feel guilty. Meanwhile naughty dog found a badger poo and rolled in it, so she's been hosed down and is skulking around outside ! I hope it still counts as I shoved an apple and blueberry cake in the oven while I did my walk ! Not a fast day for me today luckily. I expect smelly dog will reappear when the cake is done. Nice photos pennyforthem, I never understood the saying "dogs life". As mine have a great time, except being hosed down !
Good luck all

I hope it's yummy, it was meant to have blackberries instead of blueberries, but that's what I found in the freezer ! Smelly dog has now forgiven me too. Sorry, I shouldn't write about cakes on here it's not fair if everyone else is on a fast day. But what a fab way of living, I can have cake today but not tomorrow ( knowing my family there might not be any left tomorrow anyway! )
