Personally, I think the high protein/low fat combo is incredibly unhealthy...high protein is bad as it stimulates IGF1, low fat is bad as you need fat for a healthy body, no vegetables is madness. Excess protein is converted to glucose by the body and so although you're cutting out all sources of carbs including veg, you are getting glucose via the protein so why not keep protein to a healthy level and substitute in the missing veggies?

Well yesterday was fast day after my excessive feast day! and I am back to exactly what I was at the start of the feast day...

Moral of the story - if I eat excessively on a feast day it doesn't seem to send me backwards it just stalls me.

Good to know. At the start of Fast day yesterday I was up 1kg - which is about 300g more than normal after a feast day.

Just looking in here as I do occasionally - can't claim residency as I don't do ADF. I might if there were 6 or 8 days in a week but I need to feed on a Sunday! Hope you don't mind interlopers!

Thank you @carorees for the scientific angle, I have changed my mind.

Speaking of muddling different plans, as a way of avoiding as many of the bad foods here as I can, I have decided to eat vegan as far as possible on non-fast days, but will eat meat or fish when I go out.

I have stocked up today on mostly veg, some fruit and some vegan snacks. Everything is organic. My fridge looks like Whole Foods. I was a raw vegan for a couple of years and I know it suits me providing I avoid the sweet stuff and eat plenty of healthy fats. I invested in a nutribullet today so I can cram in the nutrients...... the carb content will be higher with more veg and fruit but it will be all good stuff

I also have a few cartons of organic soup - red lentil and roasted tomato, in case I need something hot.

Yep, muddling is definitely going on!! But when you go in to get a salad and your choices are rock hard tomatoes, brown lettuce, potato and last night's sausage, what would you do?!
Your sounds a lot nicer rawkaren!

I see your point. Your poor thing. Looks like we are both struggling Debs. I guess with fasting, there are days when you don't have to eat any of the nasty stuff at all! Can you get apples?

Hi there, yes granny smiths and 'red' ones sometimes!! That is why ADF is good, I only have to get depressed about my choices every other day!!!!! I must stock up on some ready meals, at least they have veggies in them! I can see why people just eat meat and potatoes here, just not healthy in the long run. I just wish the canteen would stop experimenting with strange salads, and they are always covered in strange dressings that I don't like risking!

I mentioned it because I sometimes do an apple only fast. http://lesliekenton.com/health/apple-magic/.It's a good detox too. Nice baked in the oven for a change with a bit of cinnamon if you have the facilities. I agree about strange dressings. Can you bring your own?

Usually they have already drowned the salad in them  . Frustrated as some of our old English varieties are reipening at home and I shall miss them
Apple fast sounds like a good idea though. I must get some coconut oil when I am next on break and try the bullet proof coffee as I am ravenous and have just blown it with nuts.

@Debs what a nightmare. I can see why you struggle.

Is this working away from home a lot a long term/permanent situation?

Fasting today. Just got to work out the dinner plan. The children are having pizzas made using tortillas for a base, and the leftovers of the tomato sauce that DD1 made yesterday - very nice it was too

Hi there Winsome, I work fly in fly out as a mine worker so it is my choice I guess. I couldn't earn the money I do in Tas, but I don't want to do it long term. We have a plan in place to save to build a house and be mortgage free, so we have something to aim for. In the meantime I am free to experiment on myself without hubby hovering and checking what I'm eating as he worries about me!!

Tortilla pizzas sounds like a very good idea!!
