Re: fasting and CFS
16 Feb 2015, 06:57
Just popping my head in to say hi. Have bean feeling really bad the last couple of days. Worryingly, I feel that ME has come back with a vengeance. My dad and partner/helper with my shop, is going off to Canada next week. I must admit I'm a bit worried I won't be able to handle the shop on my own but I guess if things get really bad I can shut the shop...but we desperately need the money. All my muscles ache at the moment, even my hands. What fun it is.
Hope you two are having a better time of it. Glad to hear those tablets are beginning to have some effect Candy. Is your add starting it yet?
Have a great day...a great start to the week xx

Hi@nursebean, oh, I'm so sorry to hear that you are having a bad time!!! This illness is so unpredictable! Try to rest as much as possible, drink
It's of fluid. Maybe some electrolyte drink like Gatoraide( don't know if you have that or it's equivalent) I hope you can feel better and not have to close your shop. Maybe you could explain to folks that you are sick and will need a little time to fill their orders? Wishing I had a way to be more helpful
Sending you a gentle hug and wishes for a much improved week. Love,Phyl

PS! Apparently Gatorade ( sorry,i spelt it wrong last time) is on sale at Asda,Co op, Tesco and can be bought online@nursebean
Havent seen it but then ive never looked for it!
Is it more than a sports drink Phyl..you mentioned electrolytes so i guess its a lot more than a glucose drink like our Lucozade here in the UK? X
PPS..just googled a bit more..and saw this..
"electrolyte sports drink - Zero - High5
highfive.co.uk/product/hydrate/zero
Zero is the UK's leading electrolyte sports drink tab. ZERO contains Vitamin C and 5 electrolytes, including sodium, magnesium and potassium." (Never heard of this one before ) x
Might be worth a try..i wont try anything else for a while as i want to see how the LDN works ordoesnt work..
I want to try @rawkarens idea...said it made her feel a lot better when she was v run down...drinking some water on waking with some Himalyan pink salt in it..do you still take it Karen? X

Hmmm I'm not sure about these electrolyte drinks. There was doctor's special about them and I don't think they actually do anything. I must admit I did wonder about whether to try something like that. What about Berocca? Have either of you tried that? I have water with me ALL THE TIME! I take it to bed and have sips and then I drink on waking. I've not heard of the pink Himalayan salt though. I'm intrigued by that. Thanks Phyl and Candy
How are you guys today? :?:

I' m having a quiet day indoors today..aprt from jsut had to go down four floors ( in the lift) to retrieve the lid from my tea caddy, which just fell from the windowsill and made a very loud clatter on the ground! Its a bit bashed now and doesnt quite fit! ( sounds a lot like me!) x

Oh, no!, run away tea caddy!! Well, the lid at least. :-) glad all turned out ok.
The Gatorade was a recommendation of Dr. Klimas, a specialist here int eh U.S. She has her patients drink a quart a day. Many people with M.E. Have low blood volume, and are deficient in magnesium. The sodium and magnesium in the Gatorade seems to help. I, too, doubt that it does more than plain ole water for athletes.
I make our own drink. I use powdered drink mix, it has citric acid, salt substitute, for the magnesium, and a little sea salt, sugar to taste(depending on the flavor, some are more tart than others)
The recipe is...
One package Koolaide, or similar
1/2 tsp. no salt, or salt sub.
1/4 tsp. sea salt.
1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar( or you could use artificial sweetener to taste)
2 quarts water.
Deidre drinks a couple of glasses a day. It seems to help with her fatigue, arrhythmias, and keeps her B/P up. As I have hypertension, I don't drink as much.
Hope you are both having a better day today. Hugs , Phyl

Might give this a try Phyl when ive done my LDN experiment.tho loike you,i' ll have to go easy coz of hypertension..but sounds like it sort of ties in with Karen's Himalya salt, which i imagine contains various minerals
Glad yr recipe helps Deidre x pls give her a hug from me n Bean x x

I've not heard of Koolaide before ...what on earth is it?

Hi @CandiceMarie, I, too, figure one experiment at a time. The LDN a trial is a good one. I try to keep my fluid intake up, but only do a bit of the drink. Deidre calls it Mommy-aide. :-) we are celebrating today because she has now official lost twenty pounds!! Her loss has been slow, but still is going down. How is your D.D. Doing?
Hi@nursebean, Koolaide, is a powdered drink mix , comes in lots of fruity flavors. You add it to water, add sugar and it's a bit like a fizzy drink, without the fizz. Not particularly healthy. :-) we grew up drinking it, so it's been around a LONG time. :-). I don't know if you have an equivalent. You can make the drink with fruit juice, just add a couple of vit. c tablets crushed up, and the rest of the ingredients.
So, how are you both doing? It's been really cold, icy and snowy here for a week, but now it's warmed up and rainy. Makes my body aches more noticeable, but other wise we are doing ok here. Weight wise, I'm playing around in the same one pound range this week, up a bit, down a bit. Still can't complain. Hope you are having a grand weekend. We just discovered the joys of bangers and mash around our house, we love it!! Perfect supper on a cold, icky, rainy night (can you tell is isn't a fast day??) :-) love you all, Phyllis

You've only just discovered bangers and mash Phyl @Mountainmyst! Image Mmmm they're delish aren't they!
I think that drink you are referring to sounds as though it might be our Berocca. Have you heard of that? An orange tablet that you add to water and its supposed to give you a boost. I tried it a few years ago when I was working but I'm not really not an orange drinker much
So how was your weekend in the end girls? I found my fast a bit tricky yesterday (I think the grey weather played a key role in that) but it was good to fast with my buddy Candy @Candicemarie for a change. Its also great to know that we don't have to fast today!
How often do you fast Phyl? I can never remember.
I feel a bit sad because last night the Oscars were on. In my hey day I used to join my sister and a couple of friends and we would stay up all night to watch them. We would have nibbles and drinks and vote on the nominees. It was just great. I used to have to day the following day off and people used to think I was made. But I loved it! Image
Have a marvellous Monday girls xxxx

Ohhh yes! Bangers and mash! Mmmmm ..or toad in the hole! Yummers!
So glad it's a feed day today coz those thoughts have made me peckish now...
Phyl i feel for you..warm really exacerbates my aches and pains..people look at me like i' m crazy, coz most people seem to find heat soothes their pains but its like torture for me. I dont know why people dont get it as after all, inflammation is gonna respond to cold and cool down isnt it!
Well done to Deidre! So pleased for her and admire her. Its not so easy for us is it,when we can't exercise as much as would help.
Hope this week is a good one for you both and for @crackers if she looks in xx
I go up to 2.75 mls LDN tonight..it's taken almost 3 months to get this far..I cautiously feel its helping, only a little, but even a little is something to celebrate!
It seems half a ml is a time is too much to go up by.... Going up by quarters,i' m not getting bad reactions. X
