Greetings, @CandieMarie, @nursebean, my goodness it's been a long week!! Hope your weekend is off to a great start!!
Congratulations on the weight loss Candy!! That is wonderful! Onward and downward, my friend!!
Beany, how are you doing? Still working yourself silly??
I saw my doctor(well, nurse practitioner) yesterday. My thyroid medication had been lowered again, blood pressure med. dosage decreased, and managed to argue one more time, that I'm NOT taking statin drugs for cholesterol!, my numbers are getting better although the LDL is still high, VLDL are down, HDL really good, and had about a fifty point drop in triglycerides, which I think is pretty darned good. So, at thispoint I think going grainfree in addition to my fasting is only helping. Now, if I could only get that massive increase in energy I keep hearing about. :-)
Sending love and wishes for a wonderful week!! Love, Phyl

Hi Phyl! @MountainMyst. Wow! It sounds as though everything is going in the right direction. Its amazing the impact that grains obviously have on you. As you say, I wish you would get some good energy levels bursting through too.
I haven't had TOO bad a week (although my dizzy spells have returned which are horrible). On a positive note, I've just sold my first set of Game of Thrones Dragon Eggs and as if that wasn't good enough...they're on their way to Padstow!! It must be an omen mustn't it.
I am currently trying to find a way of working from home so that I can earn a bit more in addition to eBay. I really need to bring in the money. If anybody has any great suggestions...I'm all ears!
So here's to another great week for you Phyl. I think Candy has bean up and down with her increased dose. I still feel hopeful that things will improve for her. Plus she's going to join me in alternate day fasting soon (teeheehee!)

Hiiii MM@mountainmyst! Congrats on those improved figures and on resisting the statins.. I feel v suspicious of them...Plus worrying how the docs seem under pressure from the drug reps...

I really dont know how youre managing the grainfree Phyl,AND fasting too..but well done on it x it seems beyond me * shakes head* can cut down but not cut out - yet, anyhoo.
You deserve that big energy increase ! I hope you see it soon!xx
I was telling Bean, i have horrid all over my body toothache - except in my teeth! That awful dragging nagging pain you get when yr teeth hurt..but in my bones and muscles
Am now on 3.5 mls LDN so its the usual side effect but seems more vicious this time
Will see if it calms down soon,or maybe 3 mls is as high as i can go
Deffo sleeping longer tho not better ( bad and mad dreams each night) which is wonderful.
Just heard on radio that Barbra Streisand has a Shopping Mall in her basement! Apparentlyits true,..makes me giggle..how crazy but fun! X
@nursebean just read about yr dizzy spells..so sorry x.. I HATE them..theyre the reason i fall alot..and have to go downstairs sideways like a crab..get some funny looks! grrrr makes me feel about ninety years old!

Hahaha! Oh sorry Candy, but the thought of you walking like a crab?!!

I know! Its not cool! xx
Re: fasting and CFS
21 Mar 2015, 12:42
Candy@CandiceMarie, we must have been typing at the same time. :-) oh, I do hate the all over toothache(best discription I have ever heard). Hope your body adjusts to the LDN dose quickly and you can tolerate the higher dose.
Speaking of sleep, my grain free experiment seems to be helping that too. My sleep has improved with fast, due to no more heartburn when I lie down, but I do seem to be sleeping more soundly now. I seldom remember my dreams, so can't really say much about that, but I do believe I have seen it mentioned as a side effect before.
The funny thing for me with the grainfree thing, is I have had no cravings at all. My family brought home doughnuts the other day, and I have absolutly no desire for one, amazing!! Believe me it isn't willpower, I just don't want it. Weird huh?.:-)
I think the main thing with fasting, grainfree or anything you want to do, is to be patient and kind with yourself. Do what you can, when you can. Oh, and hang on to railing when you go down stairs. :-) love and hugs phyl

Found myself looking at diet pills today! Don't know why, it was an ad that caught my eye "woman loses 12kg in a month"...by just taking two pills a day...PLUS...and this was a highlight for me...it gives you loads of energy! When you read the small print it says that the stories given (before and afters) are not factual...huh?! Anyway, I came to my senses, its just that sometimes I'd like a little boosts and if it gives you energy too...well all good...isn't it?!
Its a lovely sunny morning here in Crondall. How is it where you guys are?
Yesterday I sold a more expensive item (my Game of Thrones Dragon Eggs) and the customer lives in Padstow! What a small world. Its got me even more determined to make my millions so I can go and live there. Great to have a goal in life I say!
Hope you two have a Sensational Sunday! And Phyl, I'm super impressed with the improvements you're getting from cutting out grains. I don't think I could not have rice. I had rice yesterday with my beloved mince (for the first time in ages) and I just love it. No, I don't think I could cut that out

I read this online this morning Bean and thought ofyou..any tips here foryou?
"By having online selling blitzes, Libby Basnett, 28, an events organiser from Manchester, has funded a new bike, camera and several wardrobe overhauls.
Buying and selling on Ebay requires a change in mindset. You have to put your trust in strangers (and they you), but once you sell something and get positive feedback, it’s a lovely feeling.
I’ve had two dubious experiences, with people requesting money back, claiming the item was lost in the post when I’m sure it arrived safely, but I’ve not let it dent my faith. These were rare blips amid 450 positive transactions.
I started using the site four years ago when I was broke after travelling in Asia. At first I sold my old clothes, but as I wised up to what people wanted, I started buying with a view to making a profit. Now I shop at car-boot sales, high-street sale rails and charity shops for things to sell on, mainly clothing, choosing popular brands, such as Monsoon and Topshop, or vintage items.
A 1960s floral minidress that cost me £1 sold for £20, while some cowboy boots for £3 went for £25. I sometimes buy crockery, once making £10 on a Le Creuset pan lid! My best car-boot sale find was a floral dinner set that I made a huge profit on. I bought it for £20, and discovered it was a discontinued pattern. By selling each piece off individually, I made £400.
I put 30 to 50 things on Ebay at a time, making between £3 and £5 an item. If something doesn’t sell, I’ll relist it at a lower opening price. It may seem a big hassle for a small reward, but by listing in bulk, the money soon mounts up. I usually list items on a rainy Sunday or when my boyfriend Jack is watching football.
I’ve just bought a bicycle with £500 from my Ebay sales. I make about £50 a month, sometimes £150, and use the money to buy treats, such as new clothes or a camera."

Hi Beany@nursebean, sure am glad you stopped looking at the diet pills!!! It is tempting when someone says take these pills and get skinny, no effort on our part. In fact, back in my younger days(back when I thought I was fat at 120 lbs) I tried them. With my tendency to have heart rhythm issues, it's a wonder I didn't kill myself with such things. :-)
You are on the right track Beany, you have just hit a snag that you will get past. Maybe the A.D.F. will be just the ticket for you. I understand what you mean about the grainfree experiment. I saw the same program several months ago and said the same thing. If you wanted to try something and not give up your rice ( so glad you enjoyed your rice and mince) you should concentrate on wheat, it is the biggest culprit, and has substances that are like opioids, very addictive. I started by just cutting down and slowly decreased, until the first of the year, by then I was ready to go for it. But, as I said before, you have to do what is right for you, and you will find what that is, I promise. You are smart, determined and resilient, you will find a pill free way!! :-)
Hi Candy@CandiceMarie, really good article! How are you feeling today, adjusting any better to the med. change?
Wishing you both a great Sunday!! Love, Phyl

Thanks Phyl, you're right of course. Diet pills don't work. If they did, somebody would be a billionnaire by now wouldn't they! Hey, maybe that's what I need to do. Invent a magic pill!!
Thanks for that article Candy. You are so sweet to think of me. I must admit I was toying with the idea of buying stuff from car boots and then auctioning. Of course, all this sort of thinking is exhausting...and I haven't even left the house yet.
This afternoon I have been drawing. Something I haven't done in years! I enjoyed it despite the fact that I keep rubbing out my "etchings"! I look forward to watching the BBC Painting Challenge (which is on at 6 tonight...BBC1 if anyone is interested!) My plan is to draw Padstow but the buildings will be toadstool houses and there will be just one, solitary figure walking along with...what else...but two little Iggies. It works really well in my mind but I'm not too good at perspective and proportions. The dreaded "p" words. Hey ho!
Hope your Sundays are going well xxxx

Hey Bean, just enjoy, perspective isnt everything...colour and life make more interesting paintings IMHO
Glad youre painting, its lovely to be creative x

Mysty @mountainmyst i' m sure you're right about wheat being addictive..its one of my drugs thats for sure, tho i' m better than i used to be.
Hows your dear Deidre and Hub?
My DD has gone to see her halfbrother, who also has ME..its his birthday
He's just started LDN ..i wonder how he' ll find it
I felt dreadful for two days after starting on 3.5 mls but have felt a lot better today, tho when i tried to enjoy that and go for a little sunny walk with my Beau,i found my legs were like lead...so he drove me down to the river to sit and watch the world go by and get a blast of frsh air
Have a great week dear pals xx

Sounds like you have a wonderful beau there Candy! Glad you managed a good time by the river. It was such a lovely day wasn't it.

Hi friends@nursebean,@CandiceMarie, how are you this fine Monday? Beany, I think your drawing is a great idea. Love the idea of the Padstow drawing!! I agree with Candy, color and joy and whimsy, will go a long way! Can't wait to see what you do!
I have also thought about car boot sales and refurbishing things to sell. Then reality hits. :-) I have wonderful little children's kitchens made from ugly old entertainment centers and such. Would love to give it a try some day. Keep sketching my friend!
candy, I agree with Beany, that fella of yours sounds like a keeper!! So glad you are feeling well enough to go for a riverside date! Wow, you, your daughter and her half brother all dealing with M.E.!! Not fun!! Hope he has good results with his LDN. Is your daughter on it also?
As for Deidre and Dexter, they are puttering along. We always have some project going in this old house, and they usually work on those while I try to cook and clean. We have so much to do to get this house on the market, and we are so anxious to do it, but everything takes us so long. That is one reason I am so hopeful that this new way of eating will help me be able to do more. Hot weather is coming and that usually makes us worse. Ah, well. Patience is a virtue. :-)
I do get panicky sometimes thinking about what will happen to Deidre is something happens to us. She has no income, healthcare, or close friends thanks to this illness and the resulting isolation. We aren't getting any younger, and it's really scary. Well, that was a real downer wasn't it?? Sorry about that, I just had a feeling that you would understand, and I needed to vent on this cool, foggy Monday. Thanks for listening.
Wishing you both a wonderful week and good fasting. Love , Phyl

Oh I can really sympathise with poor Deidre. I can understand your concern Phyl. I certainly worry about the future. When my parents are gone I won't have anyone (with my sister being in Canada). Worrying about the future just makes you feel down and unwell. You really do have to just take a day at a time. At the moment it sounds as though that house of yours needs all your attention! Must be quite exciting in a way. Getting it all ready for selling.
You ought to have a go at selling on eBay. Its pretty straightforward. Those children's cookers sound intriguing. You could try one on an auction (10 days) and see how you go.
Not feeling my best today but I hope you two are having a good one. Any news on the Candy front? I guess she's fasting away quietly today!
Big hugs to you xxxx
