Bssh, huge congrats!!! Soooo happy for you. Let us know how the maintenance goes as worried myself the nearer I get to my goal. Well done Bssh!!! :victory:
Twenty five minutes to go until the end of my first 36 hour fast. Have loads of energy! Woke early, have done a mile walk, got to work early and am ahead of myself!
I have planned my 'breakfast' of fruit for 10.30am and have made a salad for lunch.
Thank you so much for all the inspiration on this topic. I fast Tuesdays and Thursdays so I will probably continue doing one 36 hour per week, now that I know that I can. Weigh on Saturday mornings, so I wont know how much I've lost until then!
   I've lost 3lb    That's new weight lost. It worked.   It also takes my BMI to 25.somthing. It also means I have crossed the half way mark - total loss 20lb, still to lose 17lb.

The whole point of this was to shake this up a bit and it has done the job. Will I continue this way? Well as others have mentioned, mariposa and sarah, we now know we can so it and it feels good. It adds another aspect to the flexibility of 5:2ing. I will take it a fast at a time and may well do a 36 on Mondays but not worry so much about Thursdays. The whole ethos of fasting is to not get obsessed about food and dieting (but as you say Sarah there is the bandwagon to think about  )

Bssh, congratulations, so chuffed for you and a bit envious.

You'll all be glad to hear that I had my toast. I needed it this morning as I had the shakes. Unlike most of you physically I couldn't go any longer, my body on both days needed fed. Mentally however I feel really good and could have pushed for a longer fast.

I don't work Fridays and am meeting a friend for lunch today at somewhere I've never been called The Bakehouse. Mmmm...I think I'll need to be careful as its name implies bread and cake (yum). My friend is the very person who told me about fasting last autumn, he has done 7 day water fasts and has now gone paleo. I'm not even thinking about that.

Great to hear how well everyone has got on and it seems to be showing up well on the scales. Keep the weight loss stats coming in.
Bash, that's fantastic, WELL DONE :like:

Well apart from waking very early, which is not like me at all, I feel absolutely fine. I think if I had to do 48 hours I'd be ok to be honest, I haven't yet felt like I am struggling. However, I'm really looking forward to my lovely meal out and I don't want it to come as a huge shock to my stomach as with B & W!

I'm just cooking asparagus (which arrived in my veg box yesterday and nearly broke my resolve) and poached eggs for breakfast. What a treat!

Oh, and I just realised I made it 37 hours. Who knew such a thing was possible?
Well done Bssh on reaching your goal weight....and everyone else for your good weight loss this morning. My weigh in is tomorrow, can't wait, I did 2 no food fasts this week, Monday and Wednesday so my weigh in will be after 2 normal feed days , fingers crossed I will have a good weight loss.
Just to say a massive well done to everyone!! If someone had suggested to us a few months ago that we could do a WHOLE DAY without any food, I know I would have thought they were completely nuts. And probably that it would be dangerous and I'd faint or something.

My next fast will be Monday or Tuesday, but I'll do whichever day you guys are all doing so let me know!

Oh and congrats everyone on the weight loss! Fantastic!
Hi Wildmissus and all the 36 ers on here, this is a copy of another thread I started earlier, hope people go for it as you all deserve it, x

Star ratings for fasts

Postby Ballerina » 26 Apr 2013, 09:17
This is for Moogie,

Hi Moogie,

I have been so impressed by Wildmissus and her inspiring band of followers who have been doing 36 hour fasts, well done troops, and I thought it might be nice if there could be some sort of small achievement noted on their profile, a bit like becoming a 'faster for life'to highlight their achievement. I have done a 24 hour fast and I notice some hardcore folk have even done a 48 hour fast, phew!

So, I thought a star rating (or a thumbs up icon or something else) might be a nice little addition/incentive perhaps 1 star for 24 hours, 2 stars for 36 hours and 3 stars for 48 hours. Any more than 3 stars would indicate death by starvation!

I realise that this would have to be done on a trust basis but hey, we are nice people on here, why would any one wish to be devious?

Anyone else think this a nice idea? Good,

Ballerina x
Bssh! Many, many congratulations to you! You are now officially a maintainer! Just brilliant! I'm so pleased for you.

[Moogie - we need a star emoticon specifically for people who have achieved their goal, don't you think?]

And you other guys! I'm so impressed! It took me over 13 months on IF before I achieved a full day without food (actually a 48 hour fast), and you guys have managed it in far less time. I'm so happy for you all!
So, you are a 3 star then, impressed, go to the top of the class, I've only managed 1 star (24 hour) so far. I'm just in awe of you folk, keep it up,

Ballerina x
Will have a think about a fair way to implement some kind of 'achievements'/medals for users - but I don't want it to become some kind of competition. I remember how my 'top losers' idea was shot down due to it seeming like it might encourage competition!

As for a star emoticon, don't we have one? :star:
I'm 26 hours into my 3rd fast of the week. I was going to wait until next week's fasts, when back to 5:2, but thought I'd see how hungry I am come 24 hours today. And doing just fine. No hungrier now than I was this arvo, which is faintly hungry, but not climbing walls. So pretty confident I can do the full 36 now.
I am planning my breakfast for tomorrow ;) mushrooms, eggs and bacon all feature, along with fruit, yoghurt and sultana muffins. Lets see how much I actually eat though, I know my thoughts on fast days of all the things I can eat when I'm not fasting is always very exaggerated!
Hi Moogie,

Point taken,I suppose people could amend their signature to include their personal rating

Ballerina x
Well I thought a bunch of asparagus and two poached eggs was a pretty modest breakfast after a long fast, but I couldn't manage it all!
Amazing Winsome isn't it how fasting suppresses the appetite (in me at least). But it comes roaring back a day later - thank goodness it's the weekend :-) And I can atone with another fast on Monday (not a 36 hour one though; will save those for Thursdays so I can enjoy the weekends guilt free).

Will anyone else be doing a 36er next Thursday?
This is a great thread! :-)
I think I'm going to do a water only fast on Monday as I think i unintentionally slightly went over my 400 calories on my last fast on Thursday.
