I just read this interesting article about walking. It makes me want to read the books mentioned in the article. http://m.bbc.com/news/magazine-27186709 Welcome margotsylvia. It sounds like you've got walking all sorted out. You are a model walker for our tent and for those of us struggling to build a routine. I didn't walk today. Too late getting out of the house to work and too tired tonight. I was just about to say 'I might go for a walk tomorrow' but that's dooming myself to failure. I need to commit! I will go for a walk at lunch time tomorrow, when I finish work as a way to think about my work. Instead of sitting at my desk trying to think, I will get out and pace the streets of Devonport. Will report tomorrow.

Half-way there today, done just over 5k steps running errands in town. Off out for more jobs this afternoon in the opposite direction, so hopefully will make it today

Thanks for the article SallyO! I used to love walking in my hometown. There was a "mountain" - e.g. not very high, across the Connecticut River in New Hampshire that was one of favorites. Haven't done it in years. Going there on vaca later this summer, so will put that on my to do list!

I am usually doing 10,000 steps a day, though yesterday did not. I had slept very poorly night before last; my fault - drank tea in the evening - so hard for me to resist as it is a comfort food! Went to bed about 8:00 PM with no tea beforehand last night and slept very well (of course!). So tonight will walk, unless it is stormy (which is predicted). Plan B - walking in front of the TV!

well, just reporting in to say I didn't walk. It was raining. That's the down side of winter. Hope for a better day tomorrow.

I got in my walk about an hour before the storms hit here. I also did not have any tea before bedtime. I might as well have - the storms kept waking me up all night! GRRRR!

Now@sallyo your skin is waterproof. Some of the most enjoyable walks I have had have been in pouring rain. The downside is it's hard to get your cloths off when they are soaking.

That may be true Nessie but I've had massive thunderstorms over us most of the day and I'm afraid I'm just too scared to walk in them!
Hoping for better tomorrow. Must Go Walking :0)+<

Yes, I learned about walking in the rain in the UK from another source yesterday. I friend of mine is planning a walking holiday in England and she was out in the rain yesterday, practising.

I did walk today! Hurrah! I did the walk to the vegetable factory, passed the fields of leeks. I listened to my Japanese course and practised talking about the weather and asking why and giving reasons. Then I listened to Radio National and heard all about Arabic Science in the Middle Ages. Most interesting. I didn't follow the advice of the article above but I did have a revelation about a problem that was worrying me. So you just have to walk. You don't have to actually think about the problem; that's happening in the sub-conscious mind as you walk, listening to the radio. Well, that's my theory.

It's been mostly great weather here, so I have been getting outside and taking a lunchtime walk. Today to a nearby grocery store and bought a salad. A couple days ago to Starbucks for a frappacino! YUM! (Won't be doing this much, I assure you!) But, even if it is just walking around a nearby neighborhood, the lunchtime walk gives me a lift.

Looking forward to a long weekend. Memorial Day here in the States. Going to a potluck on a friend's farm tomorrow. Looking forward to a ramble through the fields there. Will be walking as much as I can. Have a great weekend all!

Well surprise, surprise, it's been a soggy old day in London, so we postponed our trip to Dungerness to visit Derek Jarman's home on the coast, for a proper summers day hopefully in June. So, who has been out walking today? I'm about to walk over the hill and back (trip to the shops to buy some healthy food), so that's an hour walking. Must get that pedometer!

Where have all the walkers gone? We are heading into London town for the day - galleries and museums, so I can count on plenty of walking today.

Where has everyone gone indeed ? It's bank holiday Monday and at lunchtime I took the mutts to the beach. The roads were quite busy. Ok, so it's not sunny, it's overcast, but it's dry, there's no wind and quite pleasant at 17degrees. The car park was fairly busy and I walked inland along the coast for half an hour and cut down to the beach, which was absolutely deserted ! Fab ! A whole beach to myself ....I think everyone must be shopping instead, their loss !
Now I'm brewing a pot of tea after scoffing the leftover apple crumble I found in the fridge and the mutts are snoring !
