Hello!

Yes, just puttering about the house all day rarely gets above 4K. So I do a lot of intentional walking. My neighborhood has a ton of hills and I love seeing the fitbit track the climbing :-)

I'm changing my whole approach to walking/fasting/cutting wheat etc, and going for draconian rules and punishments - I've done the flexible, being nice to myself thing for long enough, time for discipline

So as of this week, I'm not allowed to go to bed till I've done 10k steps, I'll be wandering the streets when I get off the train tonight as my walk home will only get me to 8.5k.

Did it! Walked to Aldi rather than Waitrose on way home, then round the block twice after Great British Menu, got me nicely over 10k. Busy day planned, so should manage it easily today

Well done @Minumonline

I went for a walk today to our local Aldi store to purchase some McVities biscuits that were an advertised special for my OH. I discovered they had a whole British display - as well as the biscuits they had displayed HP brown sauce, pickles, tea, crisps, and shortbread, etc.

Carrying all the goodies home was a challenge, but a great work out! The whole trip took me about 50 mins and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

cheers Maggie

Does anyone have a Withings Pulse? It works well as a pedometer, but the android app and website are riddled with issues, but I'm struggling to find a forum online to discuss them

Well done everyone ! These pedometers are taking over, they're a great motivator ! I have also joined the 5 2 fitbit forum and find I really want to climb the leader board, and I don't like dropping a place either. It really helps ! I've been sitting down all morning so now off to march round the garden in wellies (if the rain holds off). I might even unearth the old treadmill from the shed later. My brother donated it to us a few years ago but we were doing up the house so it went straight into the shed where it still languishes. I know the mice have nibbled the belt so it might be past it. If it looks ok to salvage I'll try and get help to move it into the house ! Sorry minumsonline, I don't know about your pedometer, but if you swap Aldi for waitrose regularly you can save up for a new pedometer and get fitter at the same time ! Hurrah

HI team,

I did well yesterday, leaving the car in Percy Street and walking to work with the shopping trolly - the Red Racer. Went shopping after work and back to the car and made 11,000 steps by the end of the day. Today I have arranged to meet my friend, Julie, at a coffee shop in Ulverstone - they have excellent cakes which I am going to indulge in - and then we are going for a walk. Julie tries to do 5:2 but she hasn't joined the forum - I keep telling her to, but she won't - and she struggles to fast. Recently she went to a hypnotist and an imaginary 'gastric band' installed. Last time I saw her, this was working and she was eating less carbs in particular. She's not a vegetarian but her OH is and I think that makes it hard. Pasta and rice are fall back meals for vegetarians where as my fall back is steak or fish or chicken. Anyway, I can walk today and it's all set up. What about you? Are you walking today?

I've been for my walk today @sallyo, I did my uphill walk twice, it has really given me an energy boost.
Well done on the 11000 steps, that's great. Happy walking everyone :)

Well done, Sue Q. It's always pleasing to get a walk in early. Later on it is so easy to find excuses. I am out of walking for a few days, just holed up next to the fire, keeping warm and resting.

I managed to squeeze in a proper walk today along the beach, rather than marching round the garden. It was really nice ! I have noticed that if I keep up the walking I only need to watch what I eat during the day and maybe skip breakfast, then supper is ok without fasting properly or counting calories. i suppose it's sort of 16:8. I have been weighing regularly though to make sure I can stay on target. Had a bit of a naughty weekend as I took my daughter to a big concert in London and she insisted on a Mc D - our first of the year ! And my sister cooked us pizza for tea bless her. But we did a lot of walking and spent a long time sitting on a train to get home yesterday, so I think it evened out in the end. I have also rescued the treadmill and squeezed it into my office at home, so no excuses on bad weather days now.... I might need you to nag me please ! and yes, the mice have nibbled the belt and I have washed the swallow poo off it too !

We walked 3 miles tonight, with pups on lead.
We paused to watch the village silver band practising for a big competition at the weekend.
We paused at the equine centre to watch youngsters show jumping.
We admired sheep, pigs and ostrich and Anu found her first hare.
Climbed stiles and negotiated hills and dales.
And then found Fitbit battery had died.
Oh well, I know it's 3 miles. I last walked this circuit 13 years ago. Much has changed in this time, including me.

I have not been walking as my dodgy knee has pushed me out of alignment body wise, notably after a lovely 2 hour evening stroll with a friend in Regents Park (the rose gardens are fantastic). I was carrying a heavy workbag - silly me! So I booked an emergency appointment with a chiropractor last Thursday - it was GREAT, next app't this Thursday. I'll come by and visit you all again soon.
