Biggest of hugs to Sallyo and Amber.
Somehow our cyber world can feel more real and reliable than our personal reality, and I'd love it to be safe too. That may not be the case when the entire planet can read our comments.
Don't worry, just a heads up.
One day at a time dear friends, be gentle with yourselves {{{+}}}

We walked alongside a quiet canal today, cows peering at us through trees above the path. Huge mushrooms had grown all around but been kicked over. Wonder if they were edible, though I wouldn't dare try! Two young foals and two narrow boats, one double width, looked us over. Bird song echoed all around.
Grandsons tomorrow :9)

Good day today! So far I'm up to 11,655 steps! Whoohoo. Parked the car down by the river in Devonport and walked through town to work. Had a good day at work. I notice I am quite ditzy, losing things, getting times and days mixed up. So far no disasters have occurred but it's a worry. Cooked tonight's dinner - gnocchi sponakopita with pine nuts and currants. And cooking tomorrow nights lentil soup so I don't have to cook when I get home from work, starving on a fast day.

Mushrooms: such a dilemma. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could safely forage but we don't have enough knowledge. My sister reckoned I had mushrooms growing in my garden. We looked up all the fungi books in the house and they passed all the tests. So we declared them to be mushrooms and I cooked them up in butter. . When I had a tentative taste, no! They were not mushrooms.

Bravo for trying them and knowing to stop at first taste. I love the thought of food for free, as per Richard Mabey's excellent book, but unless I've grown it, it's the green grocers/supermarket for me, such a coward!
No walk today as rolling on the floor playing with little 'uns and watching their sports day tomorrow. Out of exhaustion I've eaten a third of an ordinary pizza tonight, gut ache now of course *slaps wrist for laziness*.
Onwards dear friends :0)

@Sallyo and friends, I love this tent, it is my fav though I struggle to keep in touch with the forum on a daily basis as much as I'd like due to life demands at the mo. I'm here, I'm on track but slightly overwhelmed. Off to plan the weekend walk...........otherwise it will not happen. Happy walking, I'll be with you soon.

Yes, @lizbean it's like that! Here I am, just having a quick look before I go to bed when there are so many other jobs I should be doing on the computer - like paying bills, answering emails, reading emails and organising political stuff.... Oh well. This is my nurture!. Looking forward to hearing about your next London walk. My Devonport walk today was pretty suburban and dull. There was walking to the library, then to the Council to pay a parking fine! ( I hate that! I'd only ducked into the green grocer for half a minute!). And then to the postoffice to bank some cheques. And back to work and then back to the car. I bought myself some new pjs as it is so cold and miserable a girl need something warm and beautiful. Happy walking all.

Hi @Sallyo - I'm off to bed too! What busy times we have! It is great we can come here for some rest-bite, gentle encouragement and great MOTIVATION. Glad to say my Dad (95) is out of hospital after a week, we are happy peeps.

I'm planning a walk on Sunday, I will be back soon.

Happy walking everyone. :clover:

Well I'm guessing you are all either out walking or in bed.

Tis the morning here and it's a gorgeous summers day in London. So I have NO excuses - the plan is to sort out the pedometer. Today is cleaning, gardening, shopping (a walk over the hill) for some yummy food - going to try make the spicy yogurt, spinach and lentil soup I had at Kenwood House last week. So that's a pretty busy day on my feet. Hooking up with a friend to plan our Sunday walk...............

I'm here! Lizbean! It's Saturday night here. I didn't do any serious walking today but I intend to , tomorrow. I'll do the morning first thing walk. My pedometer is an Omron and it is excellent. It is the best kind I have ever had and I've had a few. It records the week's steps so I can look back and see what I have done for the past 7 days. It measures steps, kilometres, calories, grams? ( of what I don't know) and it clips onto my clothes, or will also work in a pocket or in a bag. When I get to 10,000 steps a little figure cheers. I love that. I love the sound of that soup. Is it in the recipe section? My cooking plans for the weekend involve nothing so healthy! I'm planning chocolate hazelnut slice to take to a Solstice Dinner tomorrow night. Our own hazel nuts - says she to justify this indulgence. Don't you love 5:2 which allows for such luxuries.

Good evening Sallyo - fabulous, thanks for the recommendation that is really helpful - I'm off to purchase an Omron immediately! I'm aiming to re-create the soup, it was delicious!. I don't have a recipe but I'll look on line first and let you know how it turns out. I think Jools was also interested in the recipe. Your chocolate and hazelnut slice sounds yummy. I admit I don't cook sweet things, however I'm now tempted as we have introduced a tea and news staff meeting at work, where each week someone bakes ( we have great bakers!) means I can bake but not tempted to eat it all! Ok, I'm off to find the soup recipe and then it's a walk over the hill to the shops.

No proper walks accomplished this weekend, but we did go to a birthday do on Saturday night and enjoyed a few drinks ! Then we danced the night away (well, the girls did, while the boys stood around talking !). I was astounded when my pedometer recorded over 20,000 steps, plus more recorded for the next day as it was rather late by the time we went home... I need to get out more ! Not used to the late nights though, I'm feeling a bit tired today. Early night tonight ! Hope you managed to fit a walk in too.

MY walking has been very poor the last few days. I'm not sure why. I make the excuse of being busy, but really! That's not a good excuse. Now I'm suffering insomnia from not enough walking. I nearby commit to walking! I'm going out today as soon as it get's light.

Went out. Forgot to attach pedometer! Freezing cold and had to take umbrella. One hand in pocket, one hand holding umbrella and juggling i-phone. I was practising the months of the year and I learned to say 'In Australia it is winter in June.' in Japanese. I saw: gangs of masked lapwing making a lot of racket; family of native hens; grey fantails; European gold finch; ducks on the wing; a butcher bird high up in the tree - listened to my i=phone native bird app to identify it by it's call. I saw fields of leeks, some remnants in ploughed muddy paddocks, a tractor and probably Chinese workers harvesting leeks in a far paddock and blue paddocks of unharvested leeks. The river was high and fast. The roads were wet. The rain came and went.

Hi all. Its my first visit to this tent. I decided that to kick start the weight loss again I had better start walking more. Yesterday when I got home I took my dog up onto the South Downs for a walk. Amazing how out of breath I got going up the hills! It did feel good though. I think it was a tad too warm for the dog he drank a whole bowl of water when we got in and laid flat out on the kitchen floor.
Anyway I am going to make an effort to walk somewhere everyday from now on!

Hurray for walking!
Yesterday's was in the woods butterfly hunting. Most unusual spotted was a white admiral.
I keep forgetting my pedometer, oddly, how much is that omron?
