Re: Walking tent

Hello walkers,

I am away from home in sunny Northamptonshire, and had a walk planned and mapped out for this morning while OH and DS went to Silverstone. Unfortunately the map and my backpack with my drinks bottle went with them.
The owner of the hotel helpfully printed me out a walk description and rough map and I set out to do a 7 mile circular walk aiming to get to Stoke Breuern in time for a pub lunch. I managed to get lost twice and had to retrace my steps adding about 2 miles to the walk. The third time I went wrong, I went really wrong and ended up in a village about 2 miles from my destination, having walked nearly 6 miles.
Luckily my OH was able to come and rescue me.

Hi @Sue.Q I've not been walking or swimming for a few days, bad weather and loads to do. Weekend's here now so will do both tomorrow. I'm still on track even though I've not been around. :) Hope you're having a good week :)

A nice walk along the coast today, the weather was just right for it. Family refused to come along, so just me and the dogs. Most of it was through fields along the coast path with loads of wild flowers. I ended up walking to the next village along the stoney beach as I wanted to use the facilities ( too many people around to hide behind a bush !). It's really hard walking on a stoney beach ! Anyway, home again, with sleepy pets, and I'm tired too

I've been for a nice walk this morning, not a very long walk but better than none. It's overcast today so no swimming, the water's too cold. I'll be spending the day packing and sorting out clothes as we're moving house in the next few months. Busy busy busy :)

What kind of wild flowers, Mrstee?

Oh Sallyo, there were lots I don't know the names of, as well as flag iris, sea cabbage, yellow rattle, oxeye daisies, vetch, scabious, campion and cow parsley. The reeds are about 10' tall and I could hear frogs/toads croaking in the fleet. The orchids have finished flowering now. I need to remember to take photos of the ones I don't know and then look up their names. I'm so lucky I don't suffer from hay fever, it must be awful. The skylarks were out again, singing away. Fab.

Not done a walk as such today as I'd got plans, but I pinned on my untried pedometer which is now reading 6000 steps!!
This iI don't believe for one minute and can only assume I've set up the very complicated device wrong.
back to the drawing board

Well done today's walkers.
@justdee Well done Dee back on the straight and narrow for you this week and I promise you'll be rewarded
are you staying in Spain? sounds as if you've plenty to keep you busy on fastdays which all helps. :clover: :clover: :clover:

I'm sure this week I'll have my break through to a new low. I have a cheap pedometer, I don't think it's spot on but still use it as I think it's accurately wrong if you know what I mean.
I'm moving about an hour and half away, nearer to the beach/Tarragona/Barcelona and away from village life. We'll still come back to the village for weekends away and fiestas. I need a change of pace. Hope you have a good week @Sue.Q sounds like you've got a busy week.

Hello walkers - long time no see. I've been distracted and not walking. Now I'm starting to suffer insomnia and I know the cure. Today I did a 30 minute walk in town. Parked at the supermarket and walked to the library and the lawyers and back to the car. Then once home, out to the garden with the OH to transport compost from the back of the ute to the garden bed. Pushing a big barrow or carrying a trug, then back up the hill to the ute and I did that a lot of times. Now a garden bed is topped with compost. The OH has COPD and he couldn't do the walking, but he did the shovelling so I got in some more steps then. All good. Who else has been walking? @Lizbean?@justdee? @Mrstee? @Azureblue? @Sue.Q? @SianS?

I did at lot of walking at two big events last weekend and seem not to have recovered too quickly. After today's paperwork session I plan to go a walkingo, even if only into town :0)
Get out there, get the air in your hair!

Hello @Sallyo - thanks for the friendly poke  that sounds like a blissful day you had - fresh air and exercise. I'm having one of those days! Supposed to be on holiday but left my mobile at work yesterday, received urgent request from work this morning for a research proposal that had to be submitted by mid-day so that is my morning gone, now going to work to collect the mobile. Top that with a wet grey day in London........ not great inspiration for a nice relaxing walk. I like 'dry walks' where I can let my imagination wander, feel relaxed and muster all that positive motivation. Enough of that.

Pedometers! On a work day I am only up to 6k as I spend my days often in back to back meetings. So the plan is to go for a walk at lunchtime, which I rarely do. I am going to be really strict next week, let's see how it goes. I need to go back and read the posts to catch up with everyone.

Sunday (weather permitting) is a picnic on hampstead heath, so there will be walking involved, however not sure how much as I'll be carrying food and all that goes with having a picnic, rug, drinks, etc. Hum.

See you later .......... off the retrieve my mobile.

Lizbean

Retrieved my phone from work ......... and I'm now officially on holiday - it's 2578 steps to work and back, includes two buses and one tube. Monday I'm going to walk to the tube to up my steps which means I need to buy a smart little ruck sack for my laptop so I don't end up lopsided and pain in my hip again, which happened 6 weeks ago. Well done @Sue.Q for walking past the car in the drive and I hope the parcel is an exciting one

On the way home from work I read about this new 3 mile art walk in London, coming our way in the autumn
