I hope you are all keeping warm and snug. It is such a relief summer is here, the lack of sunlight and dark evenings during our winter is a tough one for me.

Well, the downpour seems to have broken and the weekly shop has to be done. 250 steps round the house so far ..........

I'm headed out to meet a friend for a walk. It's a beautiful day here today! I love meeting a friend for a walk, it's a great way to catch up, without having to eat a meal! And it's free too!

Hello

I am posting my weeks exercise here as it didn't feel like rambling (no proper boots) and I promised not to bother the runners again until I got my jog under 35 minutes. And a lot of time I was wearing a pedometer!

21/06. 5k jog
22/06. 9 mile walk Newcastle/Gateshead
23/06. 5k jog
24/06. 7 mile walk Marsden Rock and Whitburn
25/06. 7 mile walk Cox Green and Penshaw Monument from South Hylton Metro
26/06. 5k jog
3 mile walk Whitley Bay to St Mary's Island
1 mile walk Angel of the North
27/06. 3 mile walk Ouseburn Parks
4.5 mile walk Heworth to Gateshead
28/06. 5k jog

Fastest time on 5k jog, 36 min 9 secs

Back to Rambling tomorrow (in boots).

Very impressive Barbarita. And well done, Lizbean and cblasz. Yes walking with a friend is an excellent thing to do. Glad the Omron has arrived and is doing it's job. Do you have the cheering figure when you get to 10,000 steps? I am deeply embarrassed to say that I have lost my Omron already! I am not allowed to buy another one until Spring and I am hoping it will turn up somewhere in the house.

Today I went on the Forth Road walk. I saw a lot of black named birds: black ducks - in the air and on the water- black swans - a pair on the water, and blackbirds. I also saw galahs, grey fantail and masked lapwings, a cattle eaglet flying overhead and sparrows. It was gloriously sparkly sunny but the world was wet after all the rain. It was about 4km.

I'm here @Sue.QI walked this morning for an hour, very hot, I couldn't go as fast as normal. I think I'll have to leave the dog at home next time as it's just to much for her. I'm going to try to walk daily again, must go earlier so it's still quite cool. Well done on all that walking sue, we'll be shedding lbs before we know it.

Managed to fit in a nice country walk this morning, great. It's overcast and about 20 degrees, so quite pleasant. Lots of skylarks singing too. Hope everyone else is walking too. Now eating yummy fruit cake ...oops . 2 dogs now happily sleeping.

I'm going to walk to work tomorrow. I've set my alarm for nice and early, packed my lunch tonight so I can get away early and I'm going to park the car far away from school. Skylarks! Sounds amazing. I love it how we all walk in such different geographies and see different wild life. Tell us about Spain, @justdee.

Is there some room left for a weird gal like me ?

Weird because my challenge is to learn to walk proper distance with heels. Since I broke my leg 3 years ago, and more since I broke my foot last Christmas, I couldn't walk with heels more than 2 minutes, very short distance and my feet were killing me for hours after.

Today I walked for 30 minutes with 6cm high heels. Not too bad for a first try

"OH yes small baby steps "
well they will do for now leading to adult steps lol

Not walked today really just around the town, plenty of exercise though mauling in the garden. :clover:

To be honest @sallyoI don't see much wildlife really. If I'm lucky I'll spot a bird of pray. There are wild boar but I've never spotted one on a walk. Almost ran in to one in the car once. I was driving home one night down a country lane, it was about 2am. Went round a corner and there he was just crossing the road. I thought they were quite small, like I've seen in animal parks but this guy was massive. Also saw a moth as big as my hand once and a worm a meter long (thought that was a snake until I got up close). Oh and I see snakes and lizards quite a lot. Everything grows really big here for some reason, must be the hot weather. It's like james and the giant peach.
I haven't been walking today, in fact I've only been out to the veg shop and to get eggs. We've had rolling, grumbling thunder all day and been waiting for the heavens to open but it's not happened yet. Hope to get a walk in tomorrow.
Happy walking all :)

@manderley : I don't walk with heels full stop. I don't really get it. But welcome to the tent. We take all comers, weird or otherwise.

Thank you for welcoming me. As I can't run because of my knees and can't go for a ride for the next few weeks, I have to commit to regular walks.

Frankly, if I had a choice, I would rather walk bare feet all the time, as I do at home but since I began to wear skirts again, high heels are better looking than flats

Please, don't laugh but for 10 years I was a majorette and we used to parade down the streets for quite some long walk sometimes. We had to wear 7cm boots as part of the uniform and I never felt any pain, ever. I miss that, to not feel pain. Sure, it was 20 something years ago but still. ..

Just back from a walk in glorious sunshine, lovely and warm. Bit to warm for the dog tho! She turned around half way and started walking home! Oh well it was good while it lasted.
