Thanks girls! I needed that! I did a walk today. I parked in Best Street, walked up to my school and did a few jobs in preparation for going back to work tomorrow. Walked into the Mall and bought a book for my son's birthday. Back up Best Street to the supermarket, bought some ricotta cheese and continued up to Oldaker Street to the whole foods shop for walnuts, dried fruit etc, and then to the fruit shop for celeriac and back to the car. A good solid round trip. This afternoon I've made beetroot ravioli. I hope it will be delicious. No sage unfortunately for the sage butter.

So I am trying to do more walking, I meant to go today but got stuck at home waiting all afternoon for someone who never turned up
@Sallyo how do you make you beetroot ravioli filling? I'm making ravioli for a degustation dinner were having with friends in August and I'm trying out different fillings. I'm also hoping my sage will give up enough decent leaves for it - not looking good at the moment.

I used the recipe in this months Delicious. It's beetroot, ricotta, parmesan, garlic, potato - swished up in the magi mix. Beetroot and potato cooked, of course. Walk tomorrow, @wineoclock. So will I. Report back here in the afternoon, ok?
Thanks @Sallyo the magazine is beside my bed so I can drool all over the pillow while reading it . I'm supposed to stair running tomorrow morning but will walk if that gets cancelled. I'll let you know tomorrow.
Stair running: sounds brutal.
@Sallyo I did the stair running/shuffling yesterday and a 40 minute walk today. Looks like rain out there now so here's hoping as it's so dry.
Well done, Wineoclock. I also walked yesterday, parked away from work and walked to work. It takes a bit of organising as I have to leave early enough. Today is a fasting day and I did yoga at 6.30am but no walking. I think getting to yoga by 6.30am is enough.
We have our annual works picnic at Regents Park today, so for once I'll not be fasting on a Thursday, but will fast on Friday instead. Hoping for lots of walking around the edges of the picnic party. It's a beautiful morning 28 degrees predicted, perfect for a picnic under the shade of a big tree.
Now in St Andrews and spent most of the day wandering around. A pit stop in Cupar- still on the battenburg hunt. Had to buy sun cream! I'm usually covered up but as it is so gloroius, I'm flashing the legs in shorts and arms in sleeveles tops. Surprisingly, no one has shrieked/pointed/died of shock
StAndrews is beautiful, old buildings, cobbled streets , the seaside and ancient ruins. much history and culture. It's very green and there are lots of planted tubs and hanging baskets making the town very colourful.
Walked around the town, then drove out to the university and links to park. Walked around the ancient wall and perimeter and along the links at the beach. Had to have a paddle too.
Rounded off with picnic tea on a park bench. I'm a wee bit singed and very very contented.
Love my country

@janeg- yeh you are taking us on a lovely tour, thank you. The weather in the UK is amazing - in the sense it is continuing for a few weeks! Our work picnic at Regents Park this afternoon was fabulous. Bunting hung around the big trees, picnic in the shade, plenty of sparling wine and beer, lots of colleague's yummy babies and children having fun - face painting, skipping, football, frizby - great conversations and lots of hugging. We all work so hard - it's a priceless experience bringing us all together with our families. Job well done! I am glowing as I did not put on sun screen. I have organised the picnic for 18 years - next year I'm passing the batten to our youth. I'm done, but happy. @Sallyo - 12,132 steps today, my biggest record!!!!
Sounds lovely @Lizbean and well done for organising it! I have no idea how many steps I'm getting in but know that i'm walking and wamdering for hours!
Off to Perth today
Off to Perth today
@janeg I invested in the pedometer as I could see it spurred walkers on and I was interested to see how active or not I was - as I spend many hours at work in meetings. It's a bit like fasting - two days a week I put in effort to up my activity - helps me be mindful! Enjoy wandering around Perth. I'm off to Lancashire this weekend to see parents and give my sister a rest-bite. Not much walking expected, but there will be lots talking and copious cups of tea. Happy days.
Had a lovely walk with Min and the dog along the canal path this morning, sun was shining and there is quite an array of narrow boats moored up. Dog had a swim, her favourite game is to run, leap, splash, repeat then shake herself and cover us with water!
Sadly now coming to the end of our trip and the massive amount of walking that we've been so fortunate to be able to do.
Yesterday took us to Loch Leven and Perth. We were meting one of my friends who suggested somewhere that eas so close to where we were staying. We didn't realise and arrived very early. Took the advantage of parking the car and having a lochside walk. It was very hot for here so we took the tree lined route beside the loch. Lots of nesting waterbirds, beautiful trees, butterflies, peace and quiet.
Then. trail to the city of Perth. Again, beautiful old buildings, little cobbled streets, a river, mucho greenery. And my very favourite thing - interpretive boards! To be honest they have been everywhere and I am now full of so much info about the history, wildlife, architecture and general everything about where we have been. Love it! Also lots of street art, sculpture and just attracive pieces throughout; metal gates, carvings in the walls old and new, metal set into the paving stones. You have to look everywhere!
And another walk between dinner courses that took us along country roads, waving at tractors, avoiding lots of flying insects as it got cooler
Today, revisiting my childhood holiday haunts on the east coast- the Kingdom of Fife. Burntisland and Kinghorn. Very hot and heavy skies. A paddle in the Firth of Forth, a picnic of Irn bru and strange battenburg ( it shouldn't have chocolate ! ). A wander along the coastal path which isn't really coastal but the tide was in so we couldn't walk along that way.
kinghorn revisited was very lovely! Despite the rain, it is much prettier than I recall. A wee harbour with a lifeboat which was launched while we were there. Again, many interpretive boards but my favourite was hand written names on a metal fence pointing out what can be seen across the Firth. 丨Only, it was heavy and quite dark so we couldn't really see. Saw swifts and siskins on the plants too. The water was so clear and the smell of the tide amazing. And classic American cars waiting to be refurbished. Not what you would expect to see in a wee coastal town in Fife.
Flying back to the sandpit tomorrow so no more a wandering for janeg until we get to Singapore. The walks we have done a stored away and will be savoured, as I do with your walks. please keep posting them. I get so much from sharing them with you all.

@janeg oh no, you have flown - thanks for the great tour posts. I have loved reading them, experiencing the joyful time you have had. I have not popped in here for over a week ........... busy, busy with work..... so little mindful walking has taken place, though I did have a relaxing stroll yesterday with my best friend and her 7 month old border terrier who wanted to play with every dog in the park.
Tonight is a friends garden party and we are all taking some food. So I'm walking up the hill and down the hill to the shops to buy ingredients - haloumi kebabs and courgette and tarragon salad - yummy
Any one walking today ............@Sallyo @Wineoclock@Minsmum @Sue.Q @spanner @justdee@Azureblue and everyone else
