@Lizbean wish I was but 12hrs at work today. I did walk around the centre estate but it's pretty grim and deserted being a Saturday. And now I have to walk up the stairs to carrying on working :(

Walked into town, first time since illness (hugs to fellow sufferer Sue.Q) today and it felt an awfully long way. My hip is now very sore but glad I made the effort. Got back just before the refreshing welcome rain started (sorry farmers). Trying to gather energy to vacuum the stairs (2sets), not succeeding ...

Well, it's night now in Australia and I'm about to go to bed. We have had the most atrocious weather: huge winds blowing down huge trees, then buckets of rain and then snow - not here but near enough and it's freezing. I walked on Friday, around town, but today I couldn't make my self go outside. I only walked to the shop to buy eggs and cream. I could have gone in the car but I'm not such a sook as all that! I loved janeg's walks in the UK too. I've got a social event tomorrow and I have made a birthday cake for someone. It's got custard butter cream icing between two layers of cake and in the morning I'm going to make chocolate icing and cover it with hundreds and thousands. Yum. I'll stroll around the farmers market as well but I don't know if that counts as a 'walk'. Perhaps if I'm organised enough I can park away from the market and take the trolly. Then that would be a WALK.

It's 1.2 deg C here this morning in Melbourne. I'm heading to the local shopping plaza for my walk lest I freeze. My rule is that two circuits must be completed, including all the "sideshoots" before any shops can be looked at. Mind you, at this time of a Sunday morning not much will be open anyway. I'll pick up the Sunday papers but no reading them till I do some more gardening.

across the fields and along lane/track back to home
Just over 2miles/3km just to break me back in slowly. :like: :clover:

We managed a gentle wander alongside a canal today, nice, not far, but enough for now.

@Sue.Q@Azureblue glad to hear you have both been out and about in the fresh air. After a mega 2 day party celebrating my best friends birthday, I walked 5 miles to, from and around Alexandra Palace and then prepping for another heavy week of work ahead. Looking forward to 2 weeks holiday end of August. @Minsmum  12 hours is LONG.... not everyday please? @Chook @Sallyo do you have a plan for the week ahead?

Been sitting out and enjoying the garden this eve - now time for a good scrub in the bath .. and a chill.

Hi @LizBean I didn't walk over the weekend but I'm going to get out today. To the local shops and back, about 40 minutes.

Hi @Lizbean. My plan is always the same in principle but doesn't always make it in practice! If it's not raining/too cold I walk outdoors. I live in suburbia but I like to perve on other people's gardens and there are some nice walks along the river and through reserves. If the weather is too bad I drive to the local shopping plaza and do 2 to 3 circuits. You can always spot other walkers; they are the ones walking with purpose instead of dawdling. Also when my friends and I have coffee at said plaza we like to do a bit of a walk as well to burn off whatever else we've consumed. :coffee: :cake:

Oh, I am so restless and feeling very cooped up since I came back to the sandpit :(
Condsidered doing a wee wander to the shops after work yesterday, arrived in the car, and by the time I went back to find it, I was a soggy mess. Too hot for janeg and when I'm overheated (which can happen very quickly) I'm just a hazard! I have no judgement and the only thing I can think is 'I'm too hot'
Looking forward to our next bit of holiday where I'll be able to get out and about again and hopefully contribute worthwhile content to this lovely tent.
Would love to be out in the wind and rain and cold walking just now *sighs wistfully*

Well done to all of you who are persevering with the winter weather. @Chook, I like garden watching too - in June some Londoners open their gardens for a weekend to the public - its fascinating and you get great ideas too. In September we have open buildings weekend.

Today I'm fasting, working and have an evening meeting straight from work, so I'll get off the bus a few stops early this evening and walk the rest of the way to the venue. Only downside is my laptop, it's not good to walk with weight, but these days it with me wherever I go - modern life eh! I'm going to sign up to a couple of 'meet up' walks over the next few months to make sure I have something new in the diary. That's a job for next weekend.

@janeg my friend who back in the sandpit, is running up the escalators in the malls  she is missing walking desperately .......... she will be back ahead of Xmas ....... and is planning some serious walking. What's the plan for Singapore?

Hate malls with a passion @Lizbean! Good on your friend running up escalators! Where she is doing it must be quiet!
SIngapore for a couple of days en route to Sulawesi. Planning to walk miles. Hoping to spend time at the Gardens on the bay. They are huge and most lovely and will give us lots of outdoor walking time. Also just getting around from one place to another adds up . Urban walking and there are lots of green spaces, plazas with sculptures and things to see. Very excited.
