I'm in too! I've been walking almost daily for the last couple of months, at least a mile at a time. And I walked around a local lake (about 3 miles) with my son, the first time I've made it all the way around in a few years! Losing weight has helped my knee so much; my son (who's 25) said, Mom, I don't have to slow down for you anymore!

I can also rave about walking the Great Wall of China in the winter. My D H and I had it all to ourselves , we only met another two or three people. Another place great in the winter is the Forbiden city it was also empty. The only advantage of having a daughter in the other side of the world is the great places we can go to on the way and on the way home.
I enjoy walking but don't have much confidence as i often fall due to probs with dizziness and lack of co ordination, plus general clumsiness..but ive just registered on a " dog borrowing" site to take out poochies while owners are at work..fingers crossed some dog owner responds to my profile!
Nice one @CandiceMarie dog walkers, cat sitters etc leave their cards at our local vet, so you could try that too. It's a really nice way to meet people and have a good old chatter. @Ferretgal congrats to you and your knee - it's made the world of difference to me too (my left knee).
I'm on leave for two weeks so shall be out and about walking as much as I can, though I'm starting with decluttering my life, first port of call is the house. so I'm off to the de-clutter tent to finally sign up ......... so it's an afternoon of decluttering followed by an early evening 3 mile walk to deliver a birthday present.

HI walkers. I am back walking. The weather has picked up, the days are longer, the birds are singing, there are daffodils, blossom trees and magnolia. It's a new world. I got my tax return so I could afford to buy new head phones and I've paid up my Rossetta Stone language app so I can do Japanese as I walk and it's all exciting and good. On Tuesday I parked the car in Ulverstone and walked to my friend's house for a cup of tea, then back to town to do shopping. Yesterday was the walk to work routine. I practiced speaking about singing and dancing. 'They are dancing at the Beach party.' for example. Beach parties - bring them on! Next purchase will be yet another pedometer, which I pledge not to lose!
Another walking day! I'm in Hobart today, attending a language teachers conference and I parked my car in North Hobart and caught the bus to the Bahai Centre. I really did that because I was worried about where to park in the city. But then at the end of the day I walked back to North Hobart. Rupert Street, Lizbean. It was great to walk. Just been to the conference dinner where I left half my lamb on my plate - not because it wasn't good but because I'd had enough. So good to be able to do that now. Thanks 5:2.
Went walking in the Brisbane Ranges yesterday. Very pretty at the moment with wild flowers just starting to show.

Very nice, @Chook. I see it is between Melbourne and Geelong and nothing to do with Brisbane! Just named after the same British politician. Would have been lovely. Wattles? And what other wild flowers? Did you see birds
@Sallyo Yes, the wattles were lovely. A couple of different types blooming. The pink heath was just starting to show, too. Saw a couple of Rosellas. Unfortunately, the rangers were around with power tools doing a bit of maintenance and I think they frightened off the wild life. Usually we would see more birds and kangaroos.
It's ages since I posted in this tent, and there have been so many posts since then that I haven't managed to read all but the most recent...
Thanks for the tip re the Brisbane Ranges Chook, must add that to our list, not too far away, albeit the other side of the city from us. And Hobart is lovely to walk around, Sallyo, tho when visiting I mainly stick to the waterfront. I suggested to a taxi driver that it would be good to have a self-guided walking tour of the historic buildings - I couldn't find one online.
We did a lot of walking on our recent NSW/Qld caravanning trip. Highlights were the Warrumbungles, Carnarvon Gorge and the Bunya Mts for the longer (and some shorter) walks, and SO MANY shorter walks - often along creeks - in the Qld hinterland. The most challenging walk (climb) we did was up Mt Tyson at Tully - that was an adventure, to put it mildly. Thank heavens for hiking poles. Could have done without the leeches tho...
Need to plan our next adventure!
Happy rambling everyone.

I've been to the Warrumbungles, Sassy1. Beautiful. Yes, a self-guided walking tour of Hobart would be a very good phone app.
@Sallyo I have just been on a tour of Hobart c/o Google Earth! The waterfront looks amazing, I found the Bahai Learning Centre too. The strange bit is there are no people, so it feels deserted. I'll visit the other locations mentioned by Chook and Sassy1 when I have time. It's a lovely sunny day in London and I'm off for a stroll with a friend to my local haunt Alexandra Palace and the garden centre for coffee. That's good three mile walk, will see how many steps that is. Glad to hear spring is on it's way for you all. Congrats on the portion size Sallyo - same for me at a wedding on Thursday - I only ate what I wanted and needed, though I did drink lots of champagne etc
Hi walkers I've not posted about my walking lately but they've only been small regular walks.
Its a bank holiday weekend for us in the UK and yesterday we had a day out in the Peak districta very beautiful part of our little island, did a little retail therapy first to check out a new pair of boots and yes I bought them
The first pair in many years got straight off the peg and not from a extra extra wide provider only, well to say I'm chuffed is an understatement, off to Dovedale to try them out for the day and yes I was glad to get them off at the end of the day and will wear them "in" doing my shorter regular walking. A Happy Bunny

@Lizbean, you can't beat London for a city to walk around! Well, Paris is pretty good too and I haven't been to many other European cities to compare. And I haven't been to the US. But I do love London. The parks and gardens are fantastic, and so many interesting and iconic buildings. Am looking forward to my next visit...next year maybe???
And @Sue.Q, the Peak District is marvellous. Only been there twice, but loved it. Enjoy those boots.

I guess Hobart would be pretty quiet compared to London, but I have to say I was amazed by how much traffic there was on Friday night at 10pm. Can you see people on Google Earth? I don't think I ever have. Off to have a look. Hobart is a very pretty city with the waterfront and the mountain behind it. I am also looking forward to exploring London one day. I haven't really been there. Soon.
