Hey, @Sue.Q, I know you probably wrote that in semi-jest, but keep in mind that many of your visitors may be trying for self control as much as you are. When I get offered sweets at someone's house, sometimes it's hard to resist because they look so good, and sometimes I feel like taking some is the polite thing to do, but either way, it's bad for me. Lots of people see a relatively slim person and assume "they can eat anything". Not true. At all.

Don't mean to preach, so sorry!!!

PS I have this pineapple cake that someone gave us in the fridge right now, and as I seem to be the only one who will eat it, and as it's really not all that good even in my opinion, I'm thinking of just tossing it. Don't tell.

Week , errr not really sure. Happy New Year all :)
I haven't fasted properly for about 3 weeks. I didn't think fasting would be so difficult over the xmas break but for me it was almost impossible. I have done a few half fast but I don't think I got through a single day without chocolate.
I weighed in today and I have gained 6.2lbs, I think I got off pretty lightly considering what I've been eating/drinking over the last few weeks. My weight now is 174.6lbs and I hope to get back to my pre xmas weight of 168lbs by Feb 14th, valentine's day challenge.
It's sad that my tracker says in 16 weeks I've only lost 5.something lbs but it's really not about that, this is my WOL now and forever (with maybe a blip once a year at christmas). :) Onwards and downwards :)

  Happy New Year Dee
Doesn't matter what your tracker says it what WE do next that counts, my xmas gain was 1kg ( good for me) but its January that's always been worse in years gone by and I've struggled to get back on track, I did a half/semi fast on Sunday which led my path into back2back fasts Mon+Tue then my last of the wedk on Thurs, so I think I'm back on track and well at least trying for my valentine challenge but not even made my xmas goal yet Lol :clover: Good Luck :clover:

oh I don't think I could manage the back to back fast sue. You go girl. Glad to hear you're back on track. I'm doing my first full fast (in about 3 weeks) today and it's going really well. I had a lovely steak with veg for dinner and I'll have a little hot chocy before bed. I'm happy to report, I'm back in the zone and feeling great about it.
You may not have made your xmas goal hun but I'm sure you'll smash your valentine's goal xx

Week 18
This 5:2 week I did a 4:3 (wed, fri and mon). My fast days have been easy, although I went over the 500cals on Friday by about 200 (I think). It's the non-fast days I have to get control of again. I also started running this week(mon). I can't do very much at the moment but I hope to build on it. Going to go for a run every lunch time.

Start weight 180lbs

After 18 weeks I'm 173.2lbs. That's a 1.4lb loss this week. On it's way down again, whooo hooo!!!

6.8lbs lost in 18 weeks. (bl00dy christmas gain :( )

Thanks @Auriga , although I wish I was doing as well as you are. We started at about the same time but my loss is tiny compered to yours. Very well done hun. Have you done 4:3 since the start? Looking at your progress chart makes me want to do 4:3. What's your secret? :) Maybe I just need to concentrate on staying within my TDEE on non-fast days

Hello @justdee. I started 4:3 after about two weeks on 5:2 because nothing was happening! Neither hubby nor I were losing so we switched to 4:3 and we've both lost steadily....although lately we are a bit SLOW at losing. I have just started reading Dr Varady's book and I think 4:3 might be more effective (according to her research). We seem to be less hungry on 4:3 feast days than other people are on 5:2 feast days too. I haven't tried ADF it doesn't really work for us, but that's probably even more effective . She doesn't seem too bothered about TDEE either!!
Perhaps you could try 4:3 and see if it works better for you. I also try not to eat before about 1:30pm to get as much fat burning out of fasting as I can.
I hope what I have told you might help a bit: nothing ventured, nothing gained (or preferably lost in our case!) Try 4:3 and let me know how you get on.

Thanks for the tips. I find it really hard to commit to 4:3 but I think I'll give it another go, at least until my non-fast day eating is under control again. Is it just fast days you don't eat until 1:30 or every day?

Just posted this on valentine's day thread and wanted to put it on here too.
'Grrrr!! I'm not losing weight and don't think I'll make my V goal. I am fasting again twice a week but if I'm honest, I'm probably going over my 500cals. I also think most days I'm going over my TDEE. I can't stop over eating and I don't know why. I don't want this to turn into another strict diet so I'm resisting counting cals every day, although I know that's what I need to do in the short term to re-train my brain to a normal food in take. Ok folks, starting tomorrow, for one week only, I will count every thing that I eat. I've so got to try and get a grip. wish me luck. :)'

I haven't been posting my weight as it's up and down the same lb. I will update my tracker and write a progress post in the next few days. I'm not finding it at all easy at the moment though.

 What is wrong with so many of us @justdee mine
was/is 1kg up + down + up. But your is a good plan because if we're truthful we must be overeating otherwise we would lose weight or reach a stalemate plateau which mine obviously isn't. After my Fri weigh-in as you know I was disappointed and decided to refeed my body hoping for confusion I could only manage 4 full days of 3 meals each day all carb heavy days, I felt awful so I did a 18:6 yesterday ( Tues) and although I posted I'd fast on Thurs I decided to make it today and try to make it a "true" fast of 500 cals or less so as I've just posted on the resuscitation tent I'm waiting until 6-30 pm before my meal and later on will take a long bath and pampering session plus an early night to keep me out of the kitchen, I haven't got on scales since my refeed ( I'm to scared ) and will now do that on my usual Fri and report into valentines tent with the damage, we're not alone Dee I'm blaming xmas and for me our UK cold weather coz I didn't have this cold side effect last year at my start in April, bet its a bit warmer with you.

Tracking your calories does not make it a strict diet. You can still eat a decent amount. But, tracking them gives you an idea of what you are doing! I would say especially track them on your fast days!

Oh Dee hun, I'm sorry you're still struggling with fasting. It's been tough after the Christmas break and this time of year is so miserable anyway that we try to find some escape from it- for most of us that seems to be food. But yeah that sounds like a good idea, try counting for just 1 week just to get some idea of how much you are actually eating. I wish you all the best hun
