Hello everyone. I am not exactly new to this forum, but it has been a while. I lost weight successfully back in 2013/2014 using the 5:2 method and I kept it off successfully using a maintenance approach until the last two years. Looking forward to hearing how everyone fasts, how they’re finding it a...

CreakyPete! brougham! It's been ages since I've been here, too. Weight loss maintenance hasn't gone well lately, but running is going ok! I continue to do the Open Run almost every week. A friend of mine got me involved in regular NYRR races, too, and next November, I'm supposed to run my first mara...

Good to hear PJ-K that you managed to maintain even though the tracker was down. It sounds like a weak excuse but not having the weekly ‘required’ tracker update , which I did religiously every Friday, made me ignore the slow weight increase I experienced. My fasts were halfhearted and more snacking...

And another 'Old hand' reporting from long absence. Sorry I can't help on the 800. I'm still using very traditional (5:2) 600 fasting days if needed to maintain. Currently in winter (speed-skating) season, which means burning enough calories, so no need to fast, but did some in summer. Main reason t...

Hey!, I'm still alive. I haven't been posting because I'm where I want to be, weight wise. BP pretty much normal now 120s over 70s and 80s ... weight this morning 168 lbs. That put me at the bottom of over weight but I'm comfortable with it and mobility is good. I go up and down the stairs like I co...

After 5 years fasting, it's now 5 years maintaining sucessfully. Speedskating season has started, which means something like 1200 additional calories burned every week, so less need for fasting. Rather busy these days, so some more reflection will come later.

No josie50 , you're not alone. Many fasters will be joining you today all over the world, the thing is, they are not on the forum  I am, and I'm in today as well. Tuesday is my regular fastday, so you can mostly count me in on a Tuesday, just not always on the forum. Need a fast every week cur...

So, more than 6 months gone since the last updat (sorry for that), and 5 years on fasting (in a few days, but holidays are starting tomorrow). 5 years seemed to me at the start to provide a good indication of whether this strategy is sustainable or not. And as you can see in the tracker: it is indee...

You are doing really well, @Margotsylvia and your BMI is right in the middle of the 'normal' range, which could explain why your weight loss has slowed down. How much more weight do you aim to lose? You must be close to your target now and then there will be maintenance to deal with!

Thanks, I don't think I saw this at the time - I think this thread was posted when I was taking a break from the forum. Interesting article. The reduced metabolic rate after dieting (compared to what would be expected for someone of that weight) is something that is mentioned in quite a few places. ...

Hello, bcarpio and welcome to the forum. I am very pleased to hear that you are not continuing with your 72 hour fasts because we have a strict policy on this forum of not allowing posts about extended fasting. The whole point about the 5:2 way of eating is that it should help you to lose weight and...
