Hi Lou and welcome to the forum. Your story has me a little bemused I must say. Have you worked out your daily calorie requirement (for feed days) using one of the online calculators? I can understand how your weight might plateau but I can't quite see how it would increase again without the calorie...

I'm also having a prob with menopausal weight, started 5:2 diet on 14th Jan and have lost 5lbs but waist measurement has decreased by 2.5 inches and defiantly feel the difference round my middle, just hope it continues! :) Hi smac, isn't life a bummer? You get old, your hair gets thin whilst your w...

Ah, I'm glad you have seen some progress at last. I love carbs too but I keep clear of them on fast days. One expert in intermittent fasting says that even a tiny bit of carbohydrate during a fast can stop the fat burning. Something to bear in mind if you experience another plateau. Good luck at the...

Welcome to the forum Sara, you already have some very good progress to show! I think that as your weight/BMI falls you would expect weight loss to slow down, and the forum tracker stats confirm this. Also there is some talk of a plateau when you stop losing weight at about 10% weight loss from start...

Welcome Jacqui and well done indeed on your weight loss with 5:2! You must feel so much better :) I had just crept into the obese category (which I must say was a bit of a shock) and am now almost back into the healthy range. It will be interesting to hear how your plateau progresses, how you get ou...

Hi, I saw the TV programme and thought I would have a go. That was in August. I have lost 3 stone in that time and I am amazed at how easy it was. At the moment I have hit a plateau and I'm stuck but It doesn't matter. On other diets I would have panicked and probably fallen off the wagon. I was mor...

I know how you feel LastChance, there are so few who have trodden this path before us. There are a few such people on the forum and hopefully they will be along to offer advice soon. For me, I am sticking to 5:2 for as long as possible before considering going to 4:3. My reasoning is that the first ...

Caroline and Fast Jo, HIIT is pretty hardcore and eventhough there are options for beginners, will be better to get on these once your fitness level is high and let's say, you hit the weight loss plateau. These bike exercises can be done on treadmill too. What's important with HIT is that you keep y...

I suspect we will plateau at the point where cutting down on calories on feed days and/or on fast days will be needed and that this diet will not offer any magic regarding the basic energy balance situation! I imagine each person will have to decide whether to stuck where they are or to step up a ge...

I did slimming world as well for at least 2 years and lost about 4 stone but then reached a plateau after giving up smoking and it came back on again- not all but half of it. I found an interesting article on the internet (that appears to be based on scientific evidence) about weight loss plateaus, why they happen and what to do about them: Weight loss plateaus: why they happen Plateaus are a common part of the weight-loss process. A plateau happens when the scale is at ...

Not that I am a dietician expert, but I believe your experience is unsurprising. Reason being, ( from my reading of the posts here ) most of us are quite a few stones overweight, and it is a commonplace of dieting experience that a very overweight person who starts serious dieting does lose quite a ...

On my 2nd week but I am doing 4:3 as I have a lot to lose. Tried every diet going and it's great at the start then I plateau and get frustrated and it all goes back on again. Loving this plan and so far so good as I am down 8.9lbs. Hopefully this is the way for me.
