Hello! I am a newbie from the United States. I tried many diets on and off. I am 5'2" and now at 145 pounds - up 25 pounds in 10 years. I really want to get back to where I was before and feel good. I am a pretty healthy eater and exercise quite regularly. But in the last year things sort of st...

Hi, I started on the 5:2 diet on March 11, 2013 (4 fast days so far), after being told about it by a colleague. I have been a pescetarian since April of last year (I don't eat land animals, but do eat eggs, dairy, and seafood). I also travel for work, although haven't been doing so for much the last...

I started the fast diet on the 27th January 2013, my bp was 145/97, I'm 41 & weighed 15st 11. Today, I weigh 14st 10, my bp is 130/75!! I've lost 5 inches from my waist & don't feel like I'm on a diet. This dramatic change in 6 weeks inspired me to post for the first time in my life. When I ...

In 6 months mine has dropped from 145/90 to 120/70. Been doing nothing else except 5:2 in that time, so I'm very confident that the drop is 100% due to 5:2. That's very encouraging. And six months is a real achievement! After one fast day, my weight dropped 3.2 lbs. That's a huge water loss, of cou...

Hi All, just wanted to introduce myself to the forums and ask a couple of questions (which have probably already been asked). 1. Which is preferable for health/weight loss. Fasting for 24hr or 36? I have 2st to lose to get to my optimum weight  2. I have slight hypertension (145/85). Is there...

Hi Stephen, welcome to the forum! The purpose of the forum is not really to collect data for a formal study ;-)! However, I think the weight loss data is still interesting. The questions you raise are very pertinent and I don't know whether we can answer them without perhaps recruiting a group willi...

Strangely enough I just tweeted Michael suggesting he make a sophisticated forum and facilitate a substantial observational study. Low and behold it exists. Duh. Thank you so very much. Additional thoughts on the study: A friend is feeding 3 times a day at 145 cal is this less of a fasting stimulus?...

Done a bit of a boob and I'm not sure how detrimental it is/will be. Nothing MAJOR, only, since I've come to work out my calories for today, I have gone over a bit. According to MFP I've had 650 today.... over 2 meals. I've decided as a way to keep in check my calories, I'm not going to bother 'cook...

It varies actually. My routine is this: I get them on Monday and Wednesday and do my graze days on Tuesdays and Thursdays, though this can be flexible (for example this week it was a friend's birthday on Tuesday and we went out, so this week it's Wednesday and today). Since I'm not as strong as Dr M...
