This thread (or maybe it was the one about wine vs exercise) inspired me to experiment on yesterday's fast (I'm maintaining on 6:1). At the end of the day I had 40 calories left and a hankering for Strega. I looked up the calorie count (1 oz = 103 c). I carefully measured the golden liquid and enjoy...

I have lots and lots of goals. I think that to have only one is dangerous. What happens if you enver reach it? It doesn't mean you ahve failed. And I think goals should not all be weight based. My weight ones are 104.9 because I last saw that number in 2010 and only for two days and I would like to ...

I have been a vegetarian for more years than I can remember - and love vegetables! So why am I doing 5:2? First to encourage my daughter who is over weight. Second, for the health benefits. Lastly, I had trouble shifting a bit of weight due to having to take steroids regularly for three years. Clear...

I have to admit I scuttled off to take my bp and found out to my delight it's 123/82, which is the lowest I've seen in years. Given I started this it was 153/103.
He was pretty fit & light, his idea of HIIT might not be ours! Wee bit faster!!

But meanwhile (with the NHS performing 60,000 gallbladder removal operations per annum, and 103,000 people in the UK suffering heart attacks each year, and 94,000 people dying of coronary heart disease annually in the UK) I, personally, think it highly inadvisable to risk a high-fat diet OR a high-s...

You're right - I'm looking at it from a particular perspective which *may* be wrong. But then, all perspectives *may* be wrong :) My interest in the subject began many years ago when I lost a loved one to a heart attack to which a high-fat, Atkins-type diet was almost certainly a contributory factor...

Well yes and no. I usually buy farm free range eggs, but when I can't get them buy large Tesco free range eggs. They give their calorie count at 103.
Eat it, count it as 100 cals (if you're over, it's a bonus) and ENJOY!

I was very skeptical when i first heard about the 5:2 diet as its usually the case that something that sound too good to be true, is to good to be true. I would always trust my own body above scientific reports and study and so far the results have been amazing. in the few weeks i have been doing it...

I tried to jiggle about with a couple of soup recipe to suit what I had left over in the fridge with the proviso that it needs to be low calorie. It is really rather good and the total calorie amount is 533.5 for the whole lot. We had 7 large portions which I work out to be 76 calories a portion. I ...

Sites do vary, don't they? I've found one that gives 100g banana 89 calories, but The Book says it is 103. That's a 10% variance, quite a lot when you're only allowed 500/600 to start with!

You don't have to go on statins, they can only advise you to. My bp is down, was being taken every 2 weeks since I was stupid enough to go to a new patient review and it was 160/103. Now it's around 140/90 and they say I can come back in 6 months. I've lost about 2.5kgs over a month. My cholesterol ...
